  1. I hope inpatient works well for you. If you do stop working and get permanent 100% you might want to consider leaving expensive California for some place cheaper to live, like here in New Mexico.
  2. Don't forget to sign up for your free life insurance. A lot of people seem to forget about that.
  3. I am in inpatient treatment for PTSD/SUD at a VA Hospital right now and they are really focusing on my dissociation symptoms.
  4. Sounds like you might be playing with fire.
  5. Not much to add but I wanted to encourage you to apply for the upgraded discharge. And as for Dragging your Chief's name through the mud I just wanted to say it doesn't work that way, they aren't going to recall him and put him on trial.
  6. I am diagnosed with OCD as well and I am service connected for PTSD. If you look at the research it shows you can be more likely to develop PTSD if you have OCD. OCD and PTSD both cause anxiety but they are different, you may want to look up OCD and PTSD in the DSM V, it helped me a lot in figuring out how I view the world.
  7. If you can make the case that it's a valid secondary you're good. But you're right I don't know that there is precedent for it.
  8. Have you considered filing for PTSD?
  9. Can you briefly describe your stressor for PTSD or some details about why you're filing?
  10. When you go in to the inpatient program hopefully you will have a counselor. Bring up your conflicted feelings about your diagnosis and how you've been treated if you can. You may feel differently about your rating and your future plans if the inpatient program goes well.
  11. I have heard other vets mention these short C and P's for examinations. Maybe the doc already looked at your medical history and made up his mind?
  12. The VA considers me incompetent, but they put me in a program called Supervised Direct Pay. That means I control my finances but the VA will check up on me to make sure I'm spending money wisely.
  13. Don't know but if you're close to a VARO they can tell you.
  14. The Albuquerque VARO is faster than a couple years ago, but it still takes time.
  15. The examiner did not mark depressed mood so it would be difficult to make a claim for depression. I don't know if you can claim the diagnosis the examiner gave you. Doing what you did in the military may have exposed you to Gulf War Syndrome, if you can get a rating for that you can maybe file for anxiety or depression as a secondary????
  16. You can apply for Sleep Apnea due to SC PTSD. I have a sleep study coming up and if I'm diagnosed with it I'm filing it as a secondarry.
  17. I am currently inpatient at a VA Hospital PTSD/SUD program. A VSO has advised me to pick up my treatment records and review them. I have done this before and it's a major trigger for me, I hate to read them . I just need you guys to tell me the reasons why I should read these reports and give me the courage to grit my teeth and do it!
