  1. Hi everybody! So the long and the short of this is that my after 18 months and a congressional inquiry my claim ( which had been sent from San Diego to New York) was closed on the 26th of September. I was told that a letter was generated and sent on the 30 of September. On Oct. 1 ( as we all know) the government shut down. As of today, I still haven't received my packet and decision letter and my AB8 letter online still reflects my old rating of 10%. I was looking to have my service connected knee injury re-rated ( which has gotten so bad that my now "good knee" is starting to go bad) and ptsd. According to e-Bennies, my AB8 Letter says I'm still at the original 10% rating and "The effective date of the last change to your current award was: 1 Dec. 2012", which as I understand it, is the COLA increase date. I've heard a lot from the VA who can't tell me anything since I have not received my packet yet and from another VA Rep that helped me place my claim that my claim was rejected. Maybe. According to what they can see. Which they tell me is updated, as far as they know. Except for something pending from Oct 1. Which I didn't do. Is everyone looking a the same information, and if so, how do I even know if it's accurate? I've talked to 5 different people today who have given me 5 very different answers as to what's going on. What is the purpose of a AB8 letter on the e-bennies site for? Has the shut down affected the V.A.'s ability to update e-benefits? Or did I just get royally screwed? Any advice, insight and thoughts would be of great help! this is so not helping any anxiety issues.... Thanks in advance!
