  1. Archer...congrats. My claim closed on 2 Apr 14. Received my package shortly thereafter. Received my DFAS adjusted pay on 13 May and VA Retropay on 24 May 14. Went from 90-100%, retropay back to Oct 09. Once the review audit is conducted at DFAS and received by the VA it is normally pretty fast. DFAS sends out their audits between the 19th and 21st day of each month. Hang in there....the heavy lifting is over!
  2. 13 Feb 14: Decision made on appeal. Initial application for benefits was started in Oct 09. After receiving my benefit for 90% in May 10 I initiated an appeal. Received my SOC in 2013 with award on a couple of issues, but completed Form 9 and requested Houston DRO award benefits for higher percentage based on information provided. 18 Apr 14: Brown envelope received, 100% disability rating confirmed, T&P. Rating will go back to 1 Nov 09 when I retired, increased from 90%. No movement on the retropay yet. I have seen everything from the retropay being paid the same time as the decision to a couple of months. Houston VA is hard to figure out. Will standby for the deposit....the heavy lifting is done. 27 May 14: Great news, I woke up Saturday morning at 4:45 like I normally do every week day and went to use the bathroom. Checked my phone and there was an alert for a deposit from my bank. Bottomline….I received my retropay. From everything I had calculated I was only off by .88 cents so I am happy. Retired in 2009, working this appeal since Apr/May 2010 and finally it is done. So thankful….don't give up….never give up….best of luck to you guys…keep fighting!
  3. HOUSTON WE NO LONGER HAVE A PROBLEM! Great news, I woke up Saturday morning at 4:45 like I normally do every week day and went to use the bathroom.
  4. Talked to DFAS and they told me the audit was complete and it should go out to the VA between the 19 & 21st of this month...Hopefully the VA will quick turn so I can get my retropay soon....
  5. Movement? Received a CRPD Credit from DFAS Cleveland RETSPCL for $915…should I assume that this means that DFAS has completed their audit? Whats next?
  6. Good news.....Monthly disability pay was changed from 90% to 100%.... Bad news.....Retropay not received yet... All in all I am happy because I know that there are a whole hell of a lot more vets out there in worse shape than I and who have been waiting a helluva lot longer. Happy Thursday!
  7. Brown envelope received, 100% disability rating confirmed, T&P. Rating will go back to 1 Nov 09 when I retired, increased from 90%. No movement on the retropay yet. 8. Talked to EBENEFITS today and they told me that the notification letter/package was mailed yesterday. So hopefully a envelope will arrive in the next few days. Hard to believe that this saga may actually be coming to a close.

  10. Well now the Houston VA has told my Congressman's office that a decision has not been made. This is after the BVA Ombudsman told me that the file was not sent to the BVA, but was closed out at the Houston Regional Office. This is after a multitude of calls have confirmed that a decision was made on 13 Feb 14, and also that a narrative was completed on 12 Feb 14. Re-engaged with my Congressman's office and they are going back to the Houston VA and asking them to look at it again since almost every call and information on EBENEFITS and data at BVA states otherwise. Unfreaking believable!!! I feel like my BP is going through the roof! To say that I am pissed is a gigantic understatement!
  11. Yes I did....just got off the phone with the VA and they verified that a decision had been made in Houston. It is being reviewed and awaiting signature. Houston VA is very busy and it could take up to 2 months to actually get the letter/decision.
  12. Looked at EBENEFITS and it states that a decision on my appeal was made on 13 Feb 14. Talked to a number of reps at the the 1-800-827-1000 number and was told the same. The last person I talked to said they could see a narrative was completed on 12 Feb 14. Could not tell me what it was but said I would be "happy"....assuming that this means favorable. Below is pasted directly from EBENEFITS.... Local VA Office of Jurisdiction: Houston, TX Power of Attorney: I - State Svc Org Current Progress: Decision & Claims File Dispatch Current Progress Description: Your case has been received at BVA, and BVA has mailed your decision to you (and your representative, if any) and will be returning your claims file to the VA Medical Center. Please note that transit times vary, and there may be some lag time between when BVA forwards your claims file to its appropriate location and when that location receives it. Any idea on why I have not received a notification yet?
