I totally understand your feelings. My claim closed today, 100% permanent and total. I called the 800# just to see what the effective date is, and the representative scoffed at my question. He said "You're getting free money. Why are you asking?" Way to make me feel worthless, VA! My mom gave me great advice about my success. She said it is time I focus on myself now. You should do the same! :)

Today, less than 24 hours after status changed to prepare for decision. :)

Claim filed 3/21/2014 Request for increase/IU. Increase granted Sept 4, combined rating @80%. Request for IU deferred pending previous employers forms. Gathering of evidence since 9/5/14. UPDATE: IU claim is now in prep for decision phase! Cross your fingers!

Question on my mom's behalf (she's a retired Navy HMC). She remarried on Aug 3,2013. Submitted the necessary paperwork and marriage certificate through appropriate channels. She just recieved word through ebennies that her new husband was added, however the effective date is Dec2013. What gives? Why isn't the effective date the same as the day she got married?

You must be new here, rick. Each disability is different and rated accordingly. For example, I am 70% for one diagnosis and 30% for another. It depends on specific criteria. I will ignore your navy comment. You can work and be 100%. I would have to say that every veteran is a patriot. You don't know their personal struggles. If you want to bash threads and posts, go to CNN's website.

Not sure, but the IU claim says "Decision Letter Sent" but status is Gathering of Evidence. So I will wait until the BBE comes in. :)

Good news and bad news. Good news: my claim for percentage increase (submitted 3/11/2013) was approved from 70% to 80%, official effective date unknown. Bad news: my claim for IU (submitted 3/21/2014) went from pending decision notification to gathering of evidence. Back to square one (or 3?) On one hand, I'm super happy for the 80%. On the other, I'm kinda stumped that my other claim went from decision notification to gathering of evidence.

Do you live close to a va clinic? They can upgrade your account there.

Oh I was hip to their game when I was medically retired in 2010. What frustrates me the most is when I call and get the scripted response. I just sat on hold for thirty minutes listening to the elevator music on repeat, and yes I know the 800# reps are overworked and have tons of calls a day. But for the love of cheesecake, at least smile when you talk. Ok end of rant. :)

As of 30 mins ago, every time I try to download va letters it says application unavailable. Does that mean it is being updated? I can click on other links and they work fine.

I've turned into a stalker, really. :)

I have been checking ebenefits since it changed to PDA. Hopefully it won't be too much longer!

I was watching The Incredibles with my son today, and this scene reminded me of HadIt (Bob) and the VA (his boss). Made me chuckle. Thank you for being an incredible team!!

Berta, I finally upgraded my health evet account to premium, so after a few sleepless nights I finally waded through various progress notes. I still feel like I don't have any clear cut answers. In the Hodgkin's department, I hope it is just a big misprint. I saw exactly what my MH doc was looking at, and it clearly said HODGKIN'S DISEASE in big, fat letters under SC. I have a photographic memory. :) When I was medically retired, the VA was nice enough to send me a rating sheet. I tore my office apart looking for it and it had no mention of Hodgkin's. Thanks to the blue button, I have clear documentation from my VA primary doc that I am aware of the VBA Hodgkin's diagnosis. So if push comes to shove, there are dates on those as well. Now that I have the ability to really look at the progress notes, I'm just appalled at the errors. My MH doc lists me as unmarried (have been married ten years this year) on one progress note, and says I am negative for suicidal thoughts, etc, etc, and yet he did not even ask. At this point I just roll my eyes during these appointments. Nothing surprises me anymore. Being a corpsman, I know my way in the medical field. I am so sorry for the loss of your husband.
