  1. Ok, I've reviewed the DIC reg. I'm getting that the fact that my spouse and I are both DAVs doesn't matter. Either of us could still possibly qualify for the benefit if the requirements are met.? Is this correct? Thank you.
  2. Thank you Berta. I will follow the link. So glad that you pursued your husband's claims. Even more grateful that you have stayed on hadit to assist us with your wealth of knowledge.
  3. I'm trying to find out if my spouse or I would be eligible for spousal benefits if either of us passed. We are both 100% permanent and totally disabled vets. We're planning for our future, which includes purchasing a new home. We don't want to purchase something that either of us would not be able to maintain in case of death of either of us. Thank you in advance for your help.
  4. Hallelujah!!! I have received my retroactive pay and my 1st payment. I was awarded 70% non combat PTSD (sexual) on appeal after C&P exam. I am now ready to continue appeal process for the 2 that they turned down. Will need assistance with infetility and hypertension!! Hallelujah for the approval.
  5. I received a statement of case dated Feb 10th, 2008. I emailed through ISIS?? Iris?? which ever on March 27th, they responded on March 30th stating that a message had been sent to the treasury for retroactive payment and I should receive it in a week or two. I have called and emailed several times since the 5th week.
  6. Thanks Carlie, I will check it all out and share my findings.
  7. carlie i plan to appeal the 2 rejected claims, i am okay with the PTSD, 70% rating, not with the hypertension and infertility claims. My current primary wrote a statement after looking at my readings while on active duty that in all likelihood hypertension started in service.....i believe that that statement was overlooked as well as the high readings in my record, VA choose to focus on the one or low readings verses the numerous high readings..i had female surgery and other problems while on active duty that in accordance to medical research would more than likely cause infertility, i believe that i have valid reason to appeal the decisions.....i am receiving mixed messages from hadit responders, with my limited expertise in dealing with government agencies, i do believe that it would be best not rock the boat while they are working on the current decision....i definitely will not be doing anything before receiving the letter of decision........I have all I need to prepared the Request for Reconsideration..... Also, the 2 service officers that i have through the Dav have not assisted me with completing the forms, meaning, they never told me how to word my statements or any of that, is that something that they do? Thanks for your help Carlie!!
  8. if i file it won't effect the current decision or slow things down?
  9. carlie, the service rep told me i had a year to respond, even though the paper work I received said to reply within 60 days and up to one year do whatever, i don't recall the exact wording and don't have it in front of me.......which is it 60 days or a year?? :D I don't believe I ever gave VA my banking info, when would I have done that, at the time of filing my claim??
  10. Thanks Pete, I am in agreement with you! :D
  11. I called today and requested a copy of my award letter and was told to expect it in 7-10 days. They still were not able to tell me when to expect payment though, :D something's better than nothing. So jbasser you suggest that I continue to move forward with the appeal process? The current decision came from a DRO and the result of c&p exams, so I will be moving to the next stage now.
  12. I received a statement of case dated Feburary 10th. It stated I was awarded 70% PTSD and other 2 claims were denied. I was advised by my DAV rep to wait for benefits to start coming before appealing or doing anything else about my case. My question is how long will it take before I actually receive a check? I have called the 800 number several times and told that my file is at the local office. I call the local office and they have no info one way or the other. Vets have told me it would be a week or two, its been 5. I have not received an award letter yet. Does anyone know of a time frame for all this to occur? :D
  13. I have not applied for TDIU yet. Waiting for money before I do anything. How long before payment begins?
