So I went into the C&P office and they told me the psychiatrist will see me shortly. First, is it normal for the psych to do the C&P? I walked into the interview, he was a really nice guy, but he didn't ask me hardly any questions. He had me explain what I did/saw during my deployments. He also asked how my marriage and work is going. A few little things came up, that I actually brought up myself, like sleep problems, anxiety, and depression. He didn't really comment on that. After about 15 minutes he started talking about world politics and history for about 15 minutes. He then logged off his computer. (I'm wondering what is going on at this time.) He then stated "Well I diagnosed you with PTSD, you definitely seen some awful things." I said "that's it? What do I do now?" He's like "yep that's it for the C&P anyway, you should get a letter in the mail with your rating." I then asked if he wanted my civilian medical records, he said "No I read through them." Which he skimmed through 2-3 pages. I asked if theyre supposed to be in my VA medical record, he's finally like sure we can add them to the record. So minus the 15 minutes of politics and world history, the exam was really only 15 minutes, maybe not even that.
Was he supposed to diagnose me like he did? I was thinking it would be someone who just goes down a list of questions? There were quite a few symptoms I wasn't able to bring up.
What are your thoughts about how this exam went? I feel like it should've been a lot different and a lot longer. However he did say "I diagnosed you with PTSD." Is this the new way they do it now or something? What should I expect next?
