Would Like Some Opinions About My Iu Situation in Appealing Your Veterans Compensation Disability Claims NOD, DRO, BVA, USCAVC Posted July 15, 2014 ***UPDATE*** My appeal to the VA for IU is finally finished. I received my letter APPROVING IU last Saturday 7/12/14. It has been a long journey to finally get here. I'm over 6 years now from the start of my medical discharge to now. I last updated that I had a board meeting scheduled for July 1. This ended up being a DRO review rather than the quarterly regional board meeting. I attended the meeting with my wife and VSO from the American Legion. The DRO officer was very pleasant to meet with. The meeting was very informal and that really helped take away the nervousness. If anyone needs a VSO in Utah, I would HIGHLY recommend both VSO officers from the American Legion office. They were both easy to talk to and I felt genuinely cared about the job and the veteran's they are helping. They thoroughly went through my file and had several issues that they brought up in my DRO meeting that were very beneficial to my case. I tried to go through the system doing everything by myself but I was wrong. It was very beneficial to involve a VSO officer and i would recommend anyone on the fence to go that route. Again, the American Legion VSO officers in SLC are AWESOME!!!
