  3. He may be suffering from PTSD and needs to be evaluated other than that he is just young and confused by the system. He has an ankle injury and loss of hearing due to service in Iraq.
  4. Hello to all on hadit. I have a 22 year old honorably discharghed United States Marine Corp nephew. He was discharged 8-07 and had filed for two Serevicwe connectred disabilities; however he failed to attend his scheduled C&P appointments. The VA sent him a letter stating if he still wished to pursue his claims he would need to write them giving his reason for not keeping his appointments. He talked to me about this and I want to help him and would appreciate any advice. He told me he blew off the appointments and not sure what to say in his letter. He is an Iraq war veteran. Jim Lane
  5. We are responsible for our children and divorce or separation does not exonerate us from providing for them. I find it hard to believe that a person would not provide for his or her children.
  6. Follow Datamans advice he is right on. Wishing you well with your claims.
  7. I Corps, While surfing the board I came across your posts. I applied for SSDI in 2002 and was denied twice by the state agency that determines Social security disability. I appealed both times and lost however I hired an attorney the third time around and I was granted SSDI after first applying over 51/2 years ago. I want to encourage you to appeal your decisions if you have not done so and hire a local attorney that will work your case and represent you at the ALJ hearing. The attorney I hired received 25% or $5500.00 whichever came first. The retro active award went back to 2002 when I first applied and hiring an attorney was the best thing I did. I looked at this process as a full time job and as it turned out it was.
  8. Your comment concerning representation is outstanding advice for anyone considering filing an SSDI claim.
  9. I had my ALJ hearing April 30th and received the decision 9-21-07 and first check 11-28-07. I am waiting for SS to release the back pay.
  10. I have received my first SSDI check after a 5 year process to get approved.
  11. I am dense can you tell me what owcp stands for?
  12. Congratulations I am happy for you and your family.
  13. Please do not give up. I have been awarded ssdi after 2 denials and an alj hearing. I first applied in jan 2002 and after 5 years now have the benefit. I hired a sound social security lawyer by contacting the state legal bar association and requested help finding the lawyer. All you need to do is show up for the scheduled exams and appeal any unfavorable decision being sure to follow the appeal deadline dates. stay strong.
  14. I was notified by the Social Security Administration that my SSDI claim had been approved by them. This case took 5 1/2 years to get settled. The Administrative Law Judge ruled in my favor. Thanks to all on hadit for helping during these years.
  15. I received notice that my SSDI claim was approved. I have been through 2 denials and an ALJ hearing over the past 5 years. I want to thank all on hadit who provided me with valuable information and encouragement. I have a question, I am receiving TDIU from VA and wonder if this will not qualify me to receive a monthly amount? Again thank all of you so much.
  16. I had my hearing today. The Judge deferred a decission until I have a psych eval concerning if my ptsd does not allow me to work. I felt a little disappointed but at least he didm\n't deny it outright. This has turned into a big deal. I waited two years and the hearing didn't last 1/2 hour.
  17. Thank you very much this information is helpful.
  18. Spike, speaking for myself I had to have a C&P after having had a heart attak and 2 open heart surgeries the first a triple bypass the secon a double bypass. I may be wrong but I think everyone has to have a C&P before thier case is fully adjudicated. Hang in there good stuff here at hadit.
