  1. Rick H When you say your wife is in ebennies. Do you mean she is listed as a dependent. You can find this out by clicking on " dependents" on your dash board and it will say whether or not she is on the claim.
  2. Smirack Just curious, how long ago was it when you submitted online?
  3. USMC, I have to agree it doesn't sound air tight but I thought I'd share it...Who knows
  4. This may be helpful for some. After uploading my forms for dependency ( 2 months ago) I checked to see the status and it said under review with a completion date of 2017. I used the chat feature on ebenefits to verify the 2017 date and found that it was in error but was not givien a more realistic date. Anyway while on the chat line the rep told me call the 1800# and ask to be transferred to the dependency line. I did that. The person on the other end told me that if i would have called them and added my dependents via the phone instead of uploading on ebenefits I would probably be compensated by now. So as far as I know anyone that has to put in a dependent claim is better off calling and asking for the dependent dept and have all information ready ie; full names, socials and birthdates.
  5. It was actually my first compensation payment today. Usually all my deposits show up around 5 am. But for some reason this payment didn't post until around 7 am. Check your bank later this morning it may be there
  6. Smirack, Just to give you a snap shot of mine. My claim closed on 9 June 2015. I received my back pay on 12 June 2015. I updated my dependents on ebenefits and called the 1800# to alert them. At which time they said that they have a backlog and it won't be processed immediately but they will give you retro from the date the claim was filed. FYI....I 'm not receiving retirement pay so I guess my retro didn't have to go through a DFAS Audit which some say can take a few weeks. Hope this helps
  7. Another Update Claim close on 9 June, received retro pay on 12 June. BTW I'm not a retiree so I guess it didn't have to go through DFAS audit. Filed in Nov 2014 for PTSD and tinnitus. Awarded both claims. Filed out of Philadelphia. Hope this will be and inspiration to others. I know all cases are different but for the ones that have a few contentions this may serve as a blue print. Heard and read so many stories on the retro, it actually came before the BBE. Thanks again to all of you for your advice and comments.
  8. Navy4Life, I do hope that the information is also not accurate. But the rep stated it's going to be a very daunting task and seemed pretty confident that this will eventually be accomplished.
  9. It talked with MY Health VET customer service rep yesterday asking about why a c and p exam is missing from my information. She state that all c and p exams will be removed from MHV because they are not suppose to be in there it is only supposed to be available for the raters and RO's. So you better copy or save all your notes you have in MHV. She said they are removing them daily.
  10. Berta, All I see in upper right hand corner is my social that XXX out and the "27/eBenefits". My regional office is Philadelphia if you can help with information for that.
  11. Berta, Yes after reading further I have 10 percent for tinnitus......so you were right about them wanting treatment records for something other than PTSD. No I'm not umemployed. BTW...... I don't think my monthly rates reflects my dependents, how do I correct that. Another question: When can I expect my retro
  12. Update: Just recieved notice in ebenefits with a rating of 70 percent for PTSD. I would like to thank everyone that gave me advice and commented on my quest. Still don't know what that whole service treatment record request was all about during my time down range. My treatment are going well and I'm glad to have made a decision to start back up after 8 years. Thanks again.
  13. Just got off the phone with MY Health VET costumer service rep asking about why a c and p exam is missing from my information. She state that all c and p exams will be removed from MHV because they are not suppose to be in there it is only supposed to be available for the raters and RO's. So you better copy or save all your notes you have in MHV. Anyone else heard anything like this?
  14. As a matter of fact yes. But I still sent them a message to explain why its missing and do they intend to re- enter it.
  15. Has anyone ever had a problem with a C and P exam missing from Health Vet after it was submitted and posted? Mine was in Health Vet for almost 2 months up until yesterday.
  16. Berta, I do have one other claim in. It's for tinnitus, however I didn't start experiencing any hearing loss/ ringing until 2010 which is noted on my C and P exam. The VA have recieved all my medical records except the one in the 2004- 2005 time frame(Iraq deployment). I do believe I have meet the stressor requirements ( body bagging civilian killed, motar and rocket fire and a few sniper rounds while out on patrol) inwhich the VA has not asked me to fortify or stregthen my stressor. These medical records that they want does not exist ( i did not recieve any kind of treatment during Oct 2004- Oct 2005). The only thing that I could send them was a Post deployment health assessment that was recorded in Nov of 2005( which they could have had already). So assuming this is not for my PTSD, they may just want to go back and get evidence of hearing loss.......Who knows at this point. As far as the letter it just basically said that they have my medical treatment records but can not locate Oct 2004- Oct 2005 after exhausting all avenues and the claim would be decided with the evidence that they have. They would like a response back in 10 days if I had such records. This is when I sent them the PDHA( close to those dates but worth a shot.) As far as my pay, I recieved imminent danger pay( combat pay). I know you asked a lot for responses but I think this may suffice.
  17. Matthew, Thanks for your input. I certainly hope this is not some trend that VA is coming up with to deny or discourage claims. I'll let you guys know the outcome. Maybe my experience can help someone else.
  18. Thank all of you for your knowledge and advice. Gaston, I'll take your advice and not worry. I'm doing so well now with my ability to be patient and not becoming stressed easily. Thank you all
  19. Berta, Thank you for your response. If that's the way the VA is asking for proof of a stressor by asking for STR that happens to be the period of my deployment I guess I'm in for an uphill battle. In fact that's all the letter states are those specific dates and letting me know that they have exhausted all means. In which I can understand because it doesn't exist. How can I get ready for potential roadblock? Thanks again for your advice
  20. Buck 52, Thanks for your response. This is my first claim. Presently the only thing I don't have is STR for that period while in Iraq (it doesn't exist)in which the VA is specifically asking for. I don't need proof I was there my DD 214 has all that information. My only concern is that the VA will say that there is no evidence of reporting or treatment which will have them deny my claim. I don't know if it's that cut and dry or will the VA use common sense when it comes to not every service member had the ability to receive treatment for PTSD let alone reporting something that at the time seems like would be a normal reaction for anyone in a hostile area and while in a combat zone
  21. This was not a typical Unit deployment. The Division mobilized around 300 Soldiers, placing them all across Iraq from the south to north. I was in the north supplementing a group of Soldiers, Marines and Airmen. So it wasn't really my Unit so to speak. With that being said I'm not worried about proving stressors and actions. My main concern is I've been reading some of the denials on this forum where the VA simply said the denial was because they found no evidence that the claimant complained and was treated during a specific time frame. Again the time frame was the time I was in Iraq with no such medical facility near by. I'm not overly worried just anxious to see how it will turn out. The main thing is I'm coping much better because I restarted my treatments. I'll certainly keep you guys posted.
  22. Thank all you guys for your advise. I'm a former active duty Drill SGT with an 11B MOS that went into Reserves and re=classed to a 42A (Administration). Once I was over in Iraq I was used as a trainer for the Iraqi soldiers everything from firing weapons to going out on patrols for base security. Which is no surprise because it really didn't matter what MOS you had most Soldiers did jobs that were not MOS specific. My DD 214 puts me there with imminent danger pay however I did not receive any combat action badge. Had a few instances when out training and patrolling a few pot shots were taken at us from a distance and as far the command was concerned didn't deserve a CAB in which I'm ok with because a lot of my comrades experienced much worse and were denied awards because some higher ups could decide on whose getting one and whose not I guess I may be sweating it too much but it's frustrating to try and present something that's impossible to turn in as evidence. I'll keep you guys posted
  23. USMC_ HVEQ, Non taken. The overall medical records are no problem to present from being a reservist at one time and to doing 8 years active duty. Its the Service Treatment records that they want for a specific time frame ie; OCT 2004 -OCT 2005 in which I do not and will never have because I did not get any medical treatment while in Iraq for anything not even a cold. I will of course send in my PHA that was done upon my return and wont assume that they have it. Just don't want my claim to be decided unfavorably because they have asked for a document that never was. I would like to think that the VA would use some common judgement to accept that not all Soldiers that were deployed were around facilities in which they could receive treatment. I'm not saying that you couldn't get medical treatment I'm just saying it wasn't in walking distance or on occasions riding distance. But please know that I will take heed to your advice and become more involved. Really appreciate it
  24. In Nov 2014 I filed claim for PTSD resulting from my tour in Iraq in 2005. I submitted all of my STR's through the VFW when I filed my claim. I've had my C and P exam in April 2014 and it resulted in a diagnosis on Ptsd with a "more likely than not" cause by my military service in Iraq. Currently I'm receiving treatment from the VA for PTSD after starting and stopping treatment back in 2006 after my tour in Iraq. Today the VA sent me a letter asking for STR's for the exact time frame that I was in Iraq in which they stated that they have exhausted all means to secure. Now...... I was in area that did not have running water for more than 8 months straight let alone a facility where you could get medical care. The short of it is I do not have medical records for this time frame. I was an activated reservist so therefore I received a PHA right after my deployment and answered some questions positively concerning seeing killed (civilian) and fearing for my life.( which I don't think they have and I'm prepared to send them) if the PHA is considered a type of medical record. My Questions are: 1.How detrimental is this to my claim that these records does not exist? 2.Is it a standard form that I have to proclaim that these records does not exist or do I just call the VA or notify the VFW ( my representative) to let the know? In which I may add haven't been very active since I filed with them. Any suggestions or advice will greatly appreciated. Thanks
  25. Thanks for all of you guys advice. I flied my claim and have continued treatment. Also have went to my c and p exam for PTSD. Again thanks for the encouragement
