  1. I'm not sure about the snoring part of it, but I know the sleep study test gauges how many times you stop breathing and for how long with an hour time period. The hard part about doing the home test is that they need a full 6-8 hours of in-bed/sleep time as uninterrupted as possible.
  2. I'm no expert but I believe so. I am SC for TBI and my original diagnosis in service was post concussion syndrome with headaches.
  3. Is there anyone on the forums who are versed in the IMO's for VA purposes? I just recently had my IMO done and just want to make sure these criteria's you are all speaking about are covered.
  4. I hope they take it back to my original date of claim but not sure what to think at this point.
  5. Update: I filed an NOD 11/2015 for the TBI Examination not addressing my scar. NOD completed and added... scar, above right eye brow 30% painful scar, above the right eyebrow 10%
  6. I believe I was one of the first 300 that was discovered from the Minneapolis VAMC when our local station, Kare 11, started to investigate proper examiners and doctor's license and certifications in early 2015. I also believe the VA was well aware of the situation but was waiting for it to eventually hit the fan to actually do anything. Please see my previous post "TBI Re-examination?" for details. I was one of the lucky 50/300 that was actually service connected for TBI amongst other things. There is a pending Administrative Review open for my original date of claim and per eBenefits my current estimated date of completion has been pushed out to 10/16/19.
  7. Update on deferred rating for date on onset tbi/migraines: I apologize if this topic is somewhere else in the forums but I got my call back from a VA supervisor (sensitive 8) from the call center. I was told in March my file was referred to OGC - Office of General Council. I have no attorney and my VSO is about as clueless as I am at this point. Anyone know more about this process and should this be a good/bad thing?
  8. Update: I have not received any decision letters yet but on eBenefits (which as of 2 months ago is pretty much real-time in VBMS from what I been told), I have been awarded: traumatic brain injury (TBI) (previously shown as residuals, closed head injury (also claimed as scar over eye)) - 10% post concussive headaches (previously shown as migraine headache) secondary to traumatic brain injury (TBI) (previously shown as residuals, closed head injury (also claimed as scar over eye)) - 30% Which will bump me to overall 80%. The unfortunate part is that I do not see any retroactive payments and all the conditions are still pending in eBenefits. I am going to assume that they wanted to get this claim off their morning reports, rated the easy parts and deferred for date of entitlement. I do have a schedule call back within the next 48 hours from the 800# since we are all sensitive 8. We'll see what he has to say or can tell me.
  9. Updates: http://www.kare11.com/story/news/investigations/2015/08/05/unqualified-medical-personnel-performing-exams-mpls-va-medical-center-traumatic-brain-injury/31168581/ I am on this list.
  10. Lastest update from a friend who works with the VA: ...at the meeting with the director today I found out there are 300 claims. they did an internal audit and by VA law there are 4 kinds of docs that can do TBI claims. after I came back down and talked to someone with connections... there are more like 800 claims and XXXXXXX is doing them all. so they have them backed up for months. for a year or so period there was no qualified C&P doc doing the exams.... they had a foot doc doing them..... Kare 11 is looking for people to interview on the TBI issues... I heard from a contact at WWP and he heard through XXXXXX a former co worker of mine.
  11. Good luck to you rootbeer22. For me I'm just wondering why I even got the exam and whats going on within the VAMC or VBA with TBI. Like I said, I claimed it in 2004, got denied, 2012, got denied and did NOT request any reopening but was just randomly called for an exam. Rumors has it they don't know what to do with these claims as far as the effetive dates, but I guess I'll have to wait and see.
  12. rootbeer22, I can tell you that from the two TBI exams that I have had done in 2004 (taken as a head injury), 2012 and most recently 2015, I was not given any MRI or x-rays. I wouldn't say it's not possible but I am not an expert. For my exams it mainly consisted of questions and if needed they would refer me to additional exams if need be.
  13. Thanks Navy04. I am just happy I got a positive opinion with diagnosis, but in speaking with some VA employees it may not go back to 2004 or even 2012 because I didn't have a diagnosis of TBI/PCS. My thoughts are, how can I have a DX now and not back then, should I even appeal if they don't or just be happy and leave it alone. At this rate even with 10/40 my combined would only go to 80, but if I get retro to 2004,....thats a whole different ball game.
  14. Has anyone had a TBI re-examination or has heard of whats going on? (my VARO is Saint Paul, MN) 1. I claimed Closed Head Injury to include scar (DC 7800) in 2004. It was processed under BDD in San Deigo. DENIED 2. In 2012 I requested to reopen the exam because I had found some STR's which proved the incident occurred (the Marine Corps lost my STR's during my deployment). The incident was non-combat. I was given a TBI exam by a NP at the Minneapolis VAMC and DC changed under 8045. DENIED. 3. June 2015 I get a call from the St. Cloud VAMC for a C&P exam. I assume its for my skin condition because I had a follow-up exam because they didn't make it static. Wasn't till I got there I was blasted with a ton of questions instead of examining my skin what it was for. I did not ask to reopen or anything with TBI. I had my exam pulled and was found a positive opinion for TBI and Post Concussion Syndrome and looking through the facets, possibly 10/40 percentage. No mention of painful scar (anyone know if they would put this in addition too or just lump it in). Also I'm curious whether how far back they would go, because before exam there was nothing in ebenefits, but now I see there is a reopened claim with the date of 5/8/15.
