  1. YES...it is VA diagnosed August 2016, Have been going to the VA since 1977...gunshot wounds arm and leg...I have not been to a civilian doctor since I was a teenager. This is actually the first time I've been sick (except Malaria) and its a doosy...... And I appreciate the time spent on answering my question by all !
  2. I have a Question, I am presently rated at 8o% but being paid at 100% due to I was unemployable since 2008...And a letter from the VA State of Florida stating I was Total & Permanent Disabled and no further exams would be needed. I was recently diagnosed with Lung Cancer also informed it was terminal, I just put in a claim for Agent orange, Vietnam Echo 2/7 1970 0311 The question is am I 80% or 100% according to the VA letter... ( I am presently 66 yrs old) Was wondering because I want to see if my wife would receive DIC if I pass...
  3. I for one don't see the man ridiculed in any way shape or form from anyone here, I would assume a reasonable person with a reasonable state of mind seeks SSD then it is because they cannot work. Not stop working because they can get the money to stop. Of course I could be a nice guy and say...hey take the system for all its worth, and if you can work under the table and make more money then go ahead and do that also because a lot of people are doing that. I'm sure that sounds good and a lot of people would do that...I'm pretty darn sure that SS has a Phone number to call to ask...but somehow someone didn't bother to call...and I think I know why...don't you ?
  4. I don't make many post here, but I do read them all....I'm going to be blunt & frank here, and I hope I am not breaking any rules so I going to try and put it in a nice way. If your friend is working while applying for disability I would say he is a FAKE(would like to use words like maggot, swindler , or a few other choice words but I don't want to offend anyone) and makes it harder for those that really need it to get it. He will probably work after also and hopefully he gets caught...I sure as heck would turn him in. I already get ssd so I am replying for people that are trying to get it because they CANNOT work. Mods-if I am out of place then delete my post and I apologize for speaking my mind.
  5. My SSDI was approved I think in 42 Days.... ( I posted it on this forum the day I was approved I was denied SSI on my initial visit (to fill out the forms) because they said my VA Disability money (100%) disqualified me. It was the first time I ever applyed for it.
  6. Hi All......... First I'd like to say that if it were not for this site and reading the post to get prepared this probably would not have happened so quick or happened at all, this site is GREAT....I thank everyone here and everyone that responded to my post and all the other post... Now for the Good news....Received a call from SS this morning at 09:00 saying I was approved, They are back dating it to Mar 3 2008, thats when I became 100% thru the VA. There is a 5 month waiting period where you get NOTHING "0" Then the month you are entitled to it you get the following month on the last Wednesday of the month, so the first check will be Oct (for Sept) I filed for SS on 11 JUNE so that makes that 42 days for the Approval. When I first applied I had a copy of all my VA Medical records from Salisbury NC and all the paperwork form the Philly VA, Also all outside Doctors reports. They made copies at the SS office here in Philly. Today...I really feel GREAT !! and one last note...the person that called from SS was VERY NICE, polite and explained everything to me. So do not give up hope. B)
  7. I really do appreciate the replies...and so quick...and yes I meet the criteria for work.
  8. Hi all, I am rated 100% disabled, 40% from gunshot wounds and 70% PTSD.. I know I cannot work. I have applied for SSD and also had all my medical records from all my doctors, VA and Outside Doctors which I took up to the SS meating. I hear a lot of people saying They always (mostly) turn you down the first time, or they want to find a way for you to work. Well, that doesn't make sense if I cannot work due to the VA 100%. If they said I could work, would I not lost my 100% rating. Seems like it does not make sense. They also informed me that it would be 5 weeks before they received any other paperwork needed from my doctors. And usually takes 5-12 months before you hear anything back. Then if an appeal would be needed then you're looking for another 12-18 months. This prep work is being done by an outside agency and the person that spoke to me on the phone sounded coldlike. What are the chances other then 50/50 that SSD would be approved without the need for an appeal. Thanks for any replys
