  1. Did you have your heart surgery (stent bypass) before being diagnosed with DB2? If so might be tough to get that as secondary to DB2 but if you were still in service should be SC anyhow. Right? Stillhere
  2. Thanks Betrayed that is the exact paper I was looking for, from the way it reads I should be able to decline the stress test and just give them my paper work that shows a left vent of 47%. Also your paper work on the questioneire is great and very helpful. I still will be glad when this is all over I am not going for PT or IUID but I do feel I should stand an increase because of the changes in my SC conditions. Thanks to all and I hope by posting these things to help other vets that have diabetes related heart problems. Stillhere
  3. Had the wife listen to the message when she got home, seems they are making me aware of paper work that is coming to detail the appointments on July 2nd and wanted to give ma a heads up. I am sure I read on the VA.gov site one time a sheet for the examinar and it stated that if there is a cardio left vent of 50% or less that no stress test is needed. Guess I will have to wait and see what they want. Stillhere
  4. I put in for an increase in April and got the usual letter 60 days later about they are working my claim. Today I get a phone message about a appointment for exam on July 2nd. I have had two heart surgery in the past two years and while I have no problem taking an exam I really do not fell confortable doing a treadmill exam with them! Last time I had to almost show the tech which side of the stethesscope to use. can I just take my paper work and the treatment records from my cardio dr and give that to them? I am also going to ask for an increase in my hypertension which is finally controled by medication and N&P increase due to burning pain at night. Sometimes I can hardly sleep even after I have taken my sleep medication. don't know if this s--t is really worth the bother anymore. Stillhere
  5. Thank you all for your replies, guess I will type up a letter and also download their form and send them both in. AND WAIT. Stillhere
  6. I just signed up on line I think through the VA website but I do remmeber they did call and ask me a couple of questions. Kind of confusing but have it all it place now with deduction straight out of my monthly check. Hope this helps! Stillhere
  7. I have a claim for and increase been in the works for over 2 months. after reading all the recommendations on Hadit about having a copy of your C file I sent a request to the Virginia VA by Iris and below is their reply. Anyone ever get this kind of answer. It sound kind of tart to me but maybe I am just reading something into it. What do you all thing. Stillhere I would like to request a copy of my claim folder and all medical evidence in... Please send us a signed letter with your request, name, V A claim number, and mailing address. Our address is: Privacy Act Requests V A Regional Office 210 Franklin Road SW Roanoke, VA 24011 Sincerely, D. Svirsky Veterans Service Center Manager 164/217/73
  8. I filed a claim for hearing loss in 83 and was denied. Back then the VA just sent you a one page one line letter. I still have it. did not bother with it again until I got service connected for DB2 and the VA wanted me to come in for a hearing test and they have been giving me aids and batteries since then. I don't think I have it SC as yet. Berta my MOS in RVN was 52B which was power generator mechanic and I worked on the flight line and on 200K diesel engines very noisey. Anyhow when I mustered out I was a high strung 22 year old that wanted to get home and start partying, they wanted me to stay they said another couple of days while they ran more test on my hearing and I said nah and they said well sign this wavier then, so I did. Stillhere
  9. Does this mean we will get reimbursed for expenses that we have to pay for a service connected operation that we have outside of VA? While we are waiting for a claim to decide? I had expenses that I paid after my regular insurance and also meds that I paid that VA would not cover. This seems strange and could tend to open I real can of works. What do the rest think? Stillhere
  10. Pete, Washington dc va mc will see you if you are over 50% and diabetes 2 connected because diabetes 2 you need to keep your teeth in gums hygien in control also. My brother actually gets all his dentist work for nothing (Nam 70/71) and he is only 60% but 50% of that is DB2. I tried and they will only give me a cleaning and emergency work, go figure. Hope this helps. stillhere
  11. Joe, don't if this will work for you but in my case when I went through my recent round with the VA I just happened to have an appointment at the VA dentist. To make a long story short they had my info up on the screen while doing the eval and said I see you are rated 70% (at the time I was only 40%) so I said where do you see that and they showed it to me. I then left and went to the records release in the hospital and had them give me my current records from a couple of days before to present and sure enough there it was 70% and broken down all nice on the print out. I did not recieve the official notice for at lease 2 months. Stillhere
  12. Running out of meds and have to go to my cardio doc for some samples to tie me over. As some of you may know i had another stent placed in March 07 and I was on plavix from the VA for one year after my first surgery. Well when i went to healthevet to refill which has been pretty good for me and I make sure and refill 2 weeks well in advance. My script had expired for that and my sleeping pills so i did as requested and sent my PC a fax telling her about the operations and sent images of the blocakge and said my doc wanted me to take plavix again for the next year and that i also needed a script for my sleeping pills. That was on the 21st of May. Today is june the 6th and while the scripts have been writtin and submitted on June 1 I have run out of the sleeping pills and plavix ran out today. Long story short I notified PC, advise line and seems all these people know is one damn speed slow or stop. Hope I get my pills tomorrow. Stillhere
  13. Allan, Are you trying to say we should all pay for our on meds for SC conditions?? Stillhere
  14. You can get a one time free replacement set of your medals from the branch of service that you were in. Just send a letter requesting them and a copy of your dd214 that shows what you are intileded to NPRC. I lost mine too but wanted them now to pass on to my son. They said they will be sending them this week. I won't have them by Memorial Day though. stillhere
  15. Les, I appealed my decision of Sept.05 in Dec.05 only added Dr. info and in hospital report as new material evidence Granted full appeal in March 06 back to Oct.05 date of heart attack. Hope this helps some how. Stillhere
  16. Pete, ditto on the metformin seems to help me a lot to keep my A1c at 6 and lost a lot of weight and have not put it back on. I also take quite a few others. Stillhere
  17. Hey Pete, I am a Vietnam vet in country 69/70 Danang 58th. trans Bt. I corp. took basic Fort Bliss, Tex came out in July/august I think 69 went to MOS Ft. Belvoir and then volunterred for Nam. Jimmy Carter's troops all went to Canada! The A--Hole! God Bless ALL Veterans Stillhere
  18. I just IRIS the ro on April 2nd and they sent me back an email saying they would send me the paper work in a couple of months for the increase. Don't know if this way is quicker or not but guess I will find out. Stillhere
  19. Berta, Sorry to hear your husband passed from the heart disease! You made me go back and look at my award letter. Noel I hope you don't mind me adding a little bit about mine in your post topic but this may help you too. No where in my decision do they address the heart disease or what caused it they say in answer to my NOD: "Service connection for Inferior wall myocardial infraction, status post stent placement has been established as related to the service-connected disability diabetes mellitus type 2with hypertension." But nothing about what caused it?? Stillhere
  20. I get you but don't want to bog the system down any worse than it is. I might give it a shot though. Do I send the paper work to the RO?
  21. Not sure why they would not connect the dots here with DB2 and heart disease. In my case I had to have a statement from my Cardio doc and went the DRO route and got the full award that I could get at that time. I am sc Diabetes 2, with secondary heart, with PN both legs and hypertension (although it is not rated and controlled by meds) I have just had another stent placement and putting in for a rate increase and asking for a rating on the hypertension. I can work but don't know for how much longer. Three years ago i was fine and maybe took a tylenol for pain but now wow I sure take a lot of pills. It really does come on you quick. I would recommend you go back to your cardio doc and get a statement and I guess you can have your claim reopened due to new and material evidence. Also go to the web and find some statements of diabetes leading to heart disease, there are plenty. Here is part of my cardio doc's statement " In summary ------ is a middle aged man with risk factors of diabetes melltius and hypertension who subsqently went on to have a mycardial infraction with cardic damage. There is no question that his risk factors contributed to the myocardial infraction. because of early coronary intervention and restoration of the cornoary blood flow, his susubsequent course has been relatively benign with a small to moderate sized scar but overall preservation of left ventricular systolic function. He is at risk for complications of recurrent myocardial infarction, symptomic ischemia, ventricular and atrial arthymias, and even sudden death. He is currently on a rigorous lifestyle and medication program with clinical cariovascular follow-up including exercise stress evaluation perodically." HOPE THIS HELPS!
  22. Tbird, Great site and very useful but...I cannot seem to find out what a schedular is, is it animal, mineral? Thanks, Stillhere
  23. I am rated 100% but comped at 70% does that mean I can put in for a card? 60heart, 20 db11, 10 PN, 10 PN =100% Thanks, Stillhere
