  1. I am 50% PTSD and 30% GSW total 80%. I also suffer from tinitus but have not pursued it. Not sure if I am in right forum for this? But since Viet Nam I have not liked loud noise, music, machinery, motorcycles, crowds of people, anything loud. I have mentioned this at the VA but nothing was done about it except a hearing test. Now I find out on the internet it is a medical condition, noise aversion or misophonia. I seem to have level 8 misophonia. Is this connected to being a Viet Nam Vet in any way? JIm
  2. VA is very aware of RR disability pension. Of course they say that I said that I expected to receive a RR pension, not that I have been getting one for 10 years. The scars and muscle exam report is a joke, or did the lady do me a favor? I would be happy to send decision to anyone who would read it and give me some direction. JIm
  3. Thanks for the words of encouragement. I was in Tampa yesterday but did not see you ;) I will go see Larry D'Angelo DAV rep at the VA clinic in Ft Myers next week. I know he has been at it a long time and seems like a decent person. But I do not know how competent he is. Is there like some super rep in the SW FL area?? Should I be going to an outside shrink for treatment of the PTSD and an IMO?? I am currently rated at 50% for the PTSD and 20%, 20%, 20% and 10% for a gunshot wound to the right shoulder. So total 80%. 10 years ago I was awarded a Railroad Retirement disability pension for PTSD. Railroad pension is equivalent to Social Security. Would it be better to try and raise my PTSD rating to 70% or file a NOD on the TDIU. Or just do what Larry tells me to do?? I hope the answer is do what Larry says, cause all this is way to much for me. I cant even seem to ask a question without retyping it 7 times. JIm
  4. In 1969 I was awarded 10% for gun shot wound right shoulder. In 1999 I filed an appeal. In 2009 I was awarded 20%, 20%, 20% and 10% on the appeal. Is there any way to go after the 30 years of underpayment?? I think I know the answer but just had to ask. JIm
  5. I did not get the denial from the VA, It was a letter from the Disabled American Veterans, National Service Office notifying me of the VA denial. I really am disgusted.
  6. Filed claim July 14 2009, got the envelope Nov. 20 from the DAV Claim remains denied!!!!!! Only 4 months start to finish, the VA sure is improving.
  7. Went for my appointments. They Xrayed the shoulder where I was shot. I saw a second DR. Who examined my shoulder, she seemed more like a shrink than a physical DR, but maybe just me?? I spent a lot of time with the shrink for the exam, he was an older man, the man had to be at least 70! Or 35 and lived the way I lived!! This was the first time that I did not get the impression that the examining shrink was not trying to discredit me. It felt as though he was trying to lead me to the right or more appropiate ansewers. I have never had that impression befor. Take into consideration that I am on disability for mental illness and know that some of my impressions and conclusions can be very wrong. Still I have never felt the DR was on my side befor. At all times I was treated in a careing manner with dignity and respect. I hate the VA rating system and the buracracy. But I cannot say enough about the care givers. They are in general a great group of people. I always take great pains to treat them the way they treat me. For a guy like me that can be very challenging. Will update when I get my decision on my IU. Thanks for all the help JIm
  8. This still seems to be in Hyperdrive. I have 3 appointments at the VA clinic in Ft Myers Fl this friday!! Looks like 1 Xray and two shrinks, I'm sure on the Xray, not sure on the other two. I will be talking to my SO about the CUE on the GSW. I guess I should put that in another post. Keep your chin up!! JIm
  9. Long story, everything with the VA seems to be. Anyway after 40 years I have went from 10% with no kiss. To recently 80%, 50% PTSD and 30% GSW (gun shot wound)R (right) arm. So I files for IU (individual unemployability for fellow PTSD'ers) July 14th 2009. Sept 10th 2009 I recieve the standard letter stateing they are working on my claim and giving me 30 days to submit further eveidence. That is less than 2 months, warp speed in my experience with the VA I go to the DAV (Disabled American Veterans) at the FT Myers Fl clinic and tell Larry I have the letter, he gives me a questioning look and says already?? In the last 10 years dealing with the VA, I have never seen anything happen this fast. Being the eternal optimist, the only thing I can figure is they got a new "claim denied" stamp and can't wait to use it. I'm not going to get my hopes up, but my rep says I have a very good claim! Jim
  10. Has anyone ever applied for TDIU and just got it? Or do they deney everybody? JIm
  11. A long story so I will leave out much of it. But in 2008 I was raised to 70%. 50% PTSD and 20% gunshot wound, then in March 2009 They started paying me 80%. I have recieved no paperwork on this so am looking at the rating tables. I get $1547 a month which for a vet with a spouse is 80% The DAV service rep assures me that this is the amount I should be recieveing and that the paperwork will show up someday. After some prodding by friends I finally got around to filing for TDIU today 7/13/09. I'm wondering how long it will take to process this?? My last claim took a mere 10 years!!! Also is TDIU a slam dunk at 80%? JIm
  12. I just found a chunk of money direct deposited to my account. Listed as an ACH credit. What is an ACH credit???, I did a search and did not find it. SemperFi Jim
  13. Thanks, but am I considered, 65% 70% or 80% disabled? for an IU claim?? Anybody know where i can get a 35/30/20% job??
  14. I recently got an increas, still have no paperwork. I had 50% ptsd and 10% GSW. I belive I was raised to 30% for GSW. I am being paid at 70% according to the tables. Am I considered to be 70% disabled or 80%? Is it eaiser to get IU at 70 or 80%?
  15. EDs and PTSD, I had another problem. I was on anti depressents for a long time. I got to the point I could not climax/ejaculte i went to Drs. I alked to shrinks. I went to urologists outside VA. Nothing no ansewers. I'm yakking with a fellow vet one day and he says I quit takeing anti D's I cant xxx when I take them!!!!
  16. Last month I discovered an extra $28,000 in my checking account from the VA. I have recieved no correspondence on this. I would not call the VA becuse if it was sent to me by mistake I do not want to alert them, besides it is not in my job description. Not that I have a job!! This month my compensation went from $1006 to $1260 So it looks like I won. I was recieveing 50% PTSD + 10% GSW. I appealed the GSW so they must have awarded me 30% for the GSW, I'm still not going to call it may still be a mistake. I will sit here and wait for the paper work. Anyway looks like I won!! If you can call it a win. I was awarded 10% in 1969 and like a good smuck accepted it at face value. After entering the age of enlightenment I filed an appeal in 1998!!! It took 10 years to get it through the system, TEN YEARS!!! I really just like to complaine, but 29 years of being shafted out of 20% makes a guy like that. I think there should be a law, that every military recruiter that is allowed on a campus should be accompanied by a diasabled vet. So where does an 80% disabled vet get a 20% job??? Anything I should do next? Good luck to everyone, hope your claims go quickly. Jim
  17. Is there health insurance available for spouses of disabled veterans?
  18. I've been visiting this site infrequently for some time. I am %50 PTSD and really have a hard time concentrating, so visiting here with all the abreviations ect can be quite frustrating, depending on the day of course. I also have a GS wound to the R arm which is currently at %10. It has been under appeal since 1999 and is now at the Appeals Management Center for over a year. I belive I will get %20 from what I have read. Also from what I have read this will amount to a zero dollar increse, if I am reading it right. However I will be at %70. Then can I file for individual unemployability? I just read that someone is getting %10 for tinitus (ringing in ears) I have the kind of tinitus that only I can hear. I have had it for years, I have complained about it at the VA. Is this compensatable? How does one go about getting compensated for it? Thanks Jim
  19. I was removed from Railroad service, examined by a Railroad retirement board Doctor and granted a RR Disability pension. The VA had this information, including doctors report and refused to increase my PTSD from 50% I had also been going to the VA for years and on antidepressants. What else can I do?
  20. I'm a former RR engineer, 28 years. First do not quit your job, make them get rid of you. If you quit you will have a hard time getting sickness benefits. Not that they are alot, but better than nothing!! Try very hard not to call in sick, make them send you home. Second do the best you can to get 10 years in to get the RR pension. With all you have wrong with you a RR disability pension will be easy to obtain, if you have 10 years in. After 28 years I was put on a disability pension by the RR. The VA gave me 50% in 1999 I'm still getting 50%. The RR says I cannot work. The VA seems to think I can do something else. Without the RR pension I'd be up the proverbial creek!! You cannot get Railroad pension and Social security.
  21. I recieved 10% in 1969, collected that untill 1999 when I filed for an increase. I've been to court of veterans appeals, board of veterans appeals and wherever else it can go. Now my case is at apeals management center. They sent me for a examination Sept. 26, 2006. How much longer can this take? I'm currently 50% PTSD and 10% gunshot would R arm. I should go to 20 or 30% for right arm. I was hoping for IU but reading this forum there seems to be a slim chanch of that!
