Berta,
At this point, the VA is the only medical facility that is aware of several neurological problems. They were kind enough to complete the Disability Benefits Questionnaire. Recently, i made a special visit to the VA Neurology on making a medical opinion (nexus letter). Immediately, they refused and indicated to me that they do not make any opinion in behalf of veterans in a disability case. Instead, they wanted me to visit the Comp/Pen office for an opinion. Now, because i am in the midst of collecting more evidence for my appeal case. How do i get the C/P done. Can i request for a C/P examination? or before the appeal? Or can i have my DAV Rep make a request?
Thank you.

Bertha,
I claimed glaucoma and optic atrophy on my disability claim. I been under the care of an private eye doctor in the treatment of advanced glaucoma. In January 2016, I was tested by this private doctor and informed that I was legally blind. He filled out the VA Disability Questionnaire and indicated I have in both eyes severe glaucoma, severe vision field loss, cataracts, and optical atrophy. I received an decision from the VA and was informed Glaucoma was denied, no evidence in service treatment records, VA, and private medical records. Yet, for optical atrophy, it was denied but indicates that my service treatment records shows that optical atrophy was evidenced and manifested in the military service but no evidenced in VA or private medical records. In September 2016, I was certified as legally blind (severe tunnel vision) and still have 20/20 vision. VA has plans for me to go to a VA Blind Rehab soon to be serviced with some special glasses. I know, Special Monthly Pension, is complicated but at what level would I qualify for? My certification is blindness for both eyes. Would you have any clue?
