  1. The only reason i went to the Va. is because there is always the possibility I could loose my health ins. The pain management they sent me to was a joke. Young incompetent doctors that had to leave the room to talk to a supervisor before a decision could be made. B) They would give me shots in my back that did absolutely no good, then schedule another appointment in two months. Meanwhile i was on a steady diet of morphine and oxydone. I hope all vets get more competent treatment than I did. BTW my surgery consisted of fusing two vertabra with scews and rods.
  2. I have had back problems for many years.(non service)and had back surgery a few years ago(non Va. hospital.) I started using Va. medical treatment 21/2 years ago with my bad back being the main subject. Over a two year period I finally got to the MRI stage and was seen by a neurologist . He told me there was nothing he could do. I asked my primary doc. for a second opinion and was told I could'nt get one at the Va. and I was sent to pain management. I went to an outside neurologist and was in surgery within three weeks. That was just two months ago and now the pain is gone other than the soreness from surgery. Thank God I have ins. because i will not use Va. medical anymore. Big
  3. I missed it Hoppy, but i will look it up. I've asked my VA doc. twice for a letter to SS but she turned me down. She said the only way she would write a letter is if SS sent her a request. Trust me, SS will never do it.
  4. I have back and neck injuries (non service connected). I have been turned down for SSD and have asked my VA doctor to write a letter advising i am unable to work. She refuses to do so unless SS were to request such a letter. Thas would never happen. Any suggestions?
  5. Speaking of primary doctor letters, i have back and neck injuries (non service connected). I have applied and been turned down twice for SSD. MY VA primary doctor refuses to write a letter i can prsent to SS. She advised me that SS would have to request such a letter from her which will never happen. I surely don't understand this. Big

  8. Carlie, The VA has diagnosed PTSD. Haveing to leave his mother alone and in those conditions is the stressor.
  9. Thanks for the responces. I am Big's wife and he needed me to answer. the question. He and his mother lived in a remote area (nearesr neighbor 1/2/mi. No plumbing or electricity. He graduated from HS June 66 got a job and was able to get electricity. Still no plumbing. Water had to be drown from a piticher pump outside. There was no phone and the closest store eight miles. Big was drafted on Sept. 66. His mother was totally disabled since he was fourteen and recieved 45.00 a month SS. He served ten months and nieteen days none of which was in a war zone before he got his hardship discharge. His mother had no family to help her. Sorry to be so long winded, but i felt some detail may help someone to understand his stressor. His mother that he loved dearly has been haunting him in his dreams by killing our pets and hurting our grand children. He just up and quit his job May will be two years.
  10. Can a Vet claim PTSD benefits for Service aggravated disability? I was in the Army during the sixties and got a hardship discharge because of my mothers illness. I have been diagnosed with PTSD two years ago and the above is the stressor. I still have all the letters from doc. neighbors ect. that i used to apply for my discharge. Thanks, Big
