  1. From personal experience and from my vets that come see me have said is that all claims are denied the first time unless you specify exact pages in your records you want to use for evidence because they see so many claims they don't have time or want to spend the time to review every single page. If you specify for example Military Medical Records page 487 or Yakima Memorial Hospital records page 32 and why you want them to look at that page(s) you can usually get the claim pushed through quickly. And in my case since the VA is treating me for the items I'm claiming so I will not have to go down town to see another doctor. As for the shredded stuff they should have only been their copies. You should have been given a copy of all the paperwork for your own file by them also.
  2. I work at a community college and have a lot of 100% and 100% unemployable students that are taking full course loads. I also believe you can work up to 19 hours a week on unemployable. This is ment to give you hours to volunteer or work part time so you don't go stur crazy. As for your friend using voc rehab that would be a no UI means not ch 31.
  3. http://www.benefits.va.gov/vocrehab/independent_living.asp The link is the official word for everything you are looking for.
  4. The correct answer is it depends on what the claim is for and if it should have been claimed when exciting the service. I filled my fathers claim for him in 2000 for Agent Orange relaited disabilities and they retro paid him back to 1985 when he was released from prison. He received around $280k in back pay from it. My pending cancer and sleap apnea claim will also back pay me to 2009 when I separated also.
  5. What letters are you trying to pull up I just now pulled up my Benefit Verification Letter no problem.
  6. Sleep Apnea is a 50% disability but if you claimed anything else which put you above 60% you can be paid at 60% and be rated at 100% and receive total and complete. As for the chapter 35 paperwork that isn't for you chapter 35 is for your spouse and children. chapter 35 pays about $1000 a month for a living stipend but the student would have to pay for classes and fees out of pocket unless like Washington State their is a waver if both parent and child/spouse live in the same state. In the case of Washington State they would only have to pay the fees. Also the child can use the chapter 35 benefits once they graduate high school until their 26th birthday. The spouse has 10 years once you receive the letter to use the benefit.
