  1. I had this happen with mental health issues. For me I believe the reason is that it is hard to separate out the symptoms of each issue... since I am not knowledgable about your diagnoses, I don't know if that would be the same case as well... That maybe they're just too close or intertwined to differintiate symptoms or side effects
  2. So I had two C&P exams due to the VA wanting to re-examine (I did not initiate). My % went up. Effective date marked as the first C&app exam date. The whole thing was super fast. it's the first of the month. My benefit letter updated today to reflect the change (it has already been showing under disabilities). I got the notification package in the mail too - didn't include the DBQs and was a lot thinner than the one from my original claim from 5 years ago. However, the amount deposited into my account was the same as always. was not sure if that is normal or not.
  3. I just got the results/ratings back from a C&P exam where I felt heard. My person (who was contracted) also emphasized that it was not a therapy session and also made a referral. my exam was for depression with eating disorder not otherwise specified. I think mine are linked together as there is so much overlap it would be difficult to differentiate. my results were favorable in the sense that they reflected the medical concerns and impact I have felt the past five years. I haven't discussed it on here yet - as letters have not updated and I have not received my packet (disabilities on e-bennies has updated), but wanted you to know that sometimes YES they do hear you.
  4. So eBenefits status has changed to "preparing for decision" and it hasn't even been two weeks since the first of the two re-exams (one was contracted through non VA, the other contracted through VES). i don't know if I should be worried that a decision was made this fast. The shoulder exam seemed super sketchy. But the one by the non VA non VES person seemed thorough... And made me realize that my way of life needs drastic improvement and can be improved... Tempted to see a therapist again (looked one up). I just don't know what to think of everything... And I don't even know what I am hoping for exactly. Just to have felt heard I suppose
  5. I said what I did because I know for me they were SO quick to send me to debt collections while I was trying to sort it out with them... and they said I had owed it for multiple years though they'd never said it to me... That, in turn, wrecked my credit. Which has definite repercussions on a lot of things... Maybe that would not be the case for everyone though where they would send it that quickly. Also, getting it off my credit report is something I am still trying to do (this happened about two years ago or so) as they sent it to collections prior to the date they said I had to pay it by. ALSO, I will wholly admit I did not realize there was a form you could fill out. I just kept calling.
  6. You need to pay it and then argue later. I tried to argue with them over the overpayment amount before paying... It didn't pan out well. They wasted literally no time (I mean they did it before the date on the letter said I had to pay it by) sending me to collections which seriously dinged my credit score. And oddly enough my school gave me a refund back for that exact amount months and months later... so it appears the school didn't pay the VA back, but I had gotten dinged for it... and then the school tried to pay, but there was no longer a balance with the VA (or something to that effect)
  7. Hello, newbie here. Prior USAF. Med boarded 6 years ago, which generated the original C&P (which was 5 years ago). The results of that were 50% SC depression with eating disorder NOS (one treatment stint while enlisted at an IOP level) and 20% SC shoulder (2 surgeries while enlisted) Anyway, they initiated a re-exam. I had two appointments (one for the depression/eating disorder and one for the shoulder). Originally they lumped the depression and eating disorder together. This time it appeared to be separate as she filled out forms on her laptop one at a time (we did eating disorder first and then depression second) and when I was delving into things later it would appear it was DBQ questions/statements. Question 1) Is this normal? Are they splitting up the disability into two things? Question 2) Can you lose service connected? She didn't really ask a lot about my time in the military. This was previously established, however. I was incredibly honest with her and when she was reading descriptors to me selected a lesser one than she said she was going to on a couple of occasions as she overlooked my present weight due to prolonged documentation of past weight, long history of treatment stints (at the hospitalization level), feeding tubes, etc The descriptor she selected for eating disorder appears to be the highest one on that DBQ. Question 3) What does that mean? A few days after I had that exam I got a phone call from the veterans crisis intervention hotline. Question 4) Is that normal? I feel like it's a sign that she actually listened to me... and must have doubted me when I told her that while I have suicidal thoughts, I have no active plan (and that I know the difference - from experience). --- RE my shoulder That exam was odd in that doctor didn't use any instrumentation to gauge range of motion. She just looked at me move my arms - told me I wasn't trying hard enough - and then suggested that I had initiated this C&P exam myself to try to get an increase... which I didn't.
