  1. I am 100% IU and 90% over all. My back rating just went up to 20% from 10%. This was due to thoracolumbar spine degeneration, disc bulging, partial compression fractures T4, 5,and8. CFR 4.40, 4.45 and 4.59. This was just given June 1st 2017. i am now scheduled for T2 to L2 titanium boron rod fusion next week july 20th 2017. Kyphosis. Range 50 to 70 degrees. My question, What is available and how do i file for SMC....L,S...? i also am aware a reconsideration for back is warranted as well. possibly a new claim? not sure. i am rated 50% for depression/anxiety....i dont see this improving but worsening. i will be trying to control as best as possible. Panic attacks while my back is stitched up 12" or more is a fear. Does anyone have any advice? i trust this site tfrough your experiences. possibly being where im at now...Sua sponte RLTW
  2. Gastone, i just landed my IU beginning of june. Not going to do unemployment, dont want to risk it. im going to file for ssdi. next month having major back surgery. gonna be a hard road. t2 to L2 rod and fusion. will file for a reavaluation afterwords. 20% is what my current rate is. major back surgery is going to be brand new. Not related to current 20%.
  3. Couldn't file for it because my employer saved my position. Until 6/1 this month. I was on FMLA until 11/16 then the afforded me accomadation of recovery time. The city I worked for doesn't pay into state disability just unemployment. I couldn't apply for that because I was "still employed".
  4. Gastone, i was awarded IU on a FDC earlier this month. last day of work before family medical leave was Sep 9th. i was raised t0 90% from 70% overall. raised my 10% rating to 20% for compression and disc bulging. What was not known at this rating time is i am having major back surgery next month. for a non diagnosed kyphosis/scoliosis. cutting open from T2 - L2. fusing in a rod. triwest is paying through choice program for private nuero.
  5. also, if i am already being paid at 100% what good would it do to file for convalesence? and BTW, i really appreciate all of the advice. My DAV rep got 20% taken away on my 2nd to last claim. My wife and i have been filing everything on our own. she got my 70% raised t0 90% overall as well as tdiu. i married a smart lady!
  6. jbasser not p&T. Just IU. They gave me an appointment for my 30% flat feet oct. 2018.
  7. I have received 100% IU with an overall rating of 90%. My back rating was just increased from 10% to 20%. I am now scheduled for back surgery next month (not related to this past claim). I have been diagnosed (finally) by an outside surgeon with severe kyphosis and scoliosis. T2-L2 rod with fusion. I plan on applying for a reconsideration with SMC-S. Knowing back rating only goes as high as 60%, what are my chances? Does anyone have advice on which avenue i should take? It would be greatly appreciated.
  8. just got 100% IU. Jumped outta too many aircraft and choppers...fast rope incl. im having major back surgery next month opening from T2-L2 with rod and fusion. they just increased back from 10-20%, before any knowledge of all of this. My questions are this A). can i collect state unemployment insurance along with 100% IU? B). Should i wait to file for SSDI until after back surgery? C). when should i file for SMC-S Housebound? Thanks for the help and concern.....RLTW
  9. Served as an Army Ranger and made multiple jumps, fast rope, humps with 75lb rucks all over the globe. Now in my 40's and body is breaking down...waah right! no, i would do it all over again. just received 100% IU for various body parts. 50% depression anxiety just thrown in the mix. i now go for major reconstructive back surgery next month. rod and fusion from T2-L2. possible P&T god willing. Life changing drastically. I made good cash as a building inspector for past 3 years. been out since sep 2016 on sick medical leave, with no disability pay from the state. City i worked for didn't pay into it. Now i plan on filing for SSDI and realize (from vets on here) VA and state are separate entities. ok. understood. My question is, Can i file for state unemployment while getting 100% IU? Also i have a paper trail a mile long of service connected disabilities. any advice on SSDI
