  2. Hi Bound, Not sure if I understand this correctly, but i thought the H.R.1284 bill was the COLA adjustment that took effect last Dec.2007. Grace

  5. Welcome!! I am happy too see you found the Hadit group. Hopefully the other Illinois Vets are reading all the information you have posted and start to question their local county assesors. My husband and I are going to our tax assesors office this coming Monday with the ( printed out) info you have stated and the Public Act Law(that is in question). I'll post if we get an answer. Again Thank You for all that your doing for the Illinois disabled Vets! Please keep us posted with your latest email to JoEllen Mahr. Best Regards, Justme 1949 (Grunt1949)
  6. Congratulations Time! Have a wonderful holiday! Justme
  7. SSGMike, Can you tell me if this tax break applies for all disabled vets,or just those currently in the military coming back? Thank you!
  8. Maybe I should have started a new topic however my husbands newly awarded claim falls(I think) in this thread. He filed a claim back in June '06 for 4 things. It was a long 15months gathering his records military and medical. :) There where many times we both felt like throwing in the towel and not looking back. Finally, this past September we recieved the brown envelope and just about fell over when we read it. He was awarded 100% P&T schedular for PTSD! I just started crying and my husband just kept reading it over and over to make sure he wasn't missing something. I put this in this thread because my husband does work full time. In fact it was even mentioned by the Doctor who did the C&P exam, the notes from the VA psychartist and the VA pyschologist. I even mentioned it in the letter I wrote about his PTSD and how it affected our lives(38years). I've read all the posts in this thread and can certainly understand why one would think 100% P&T PTSD and work does not happen! However, it did for my husband and I have to believe there are others too that just don't know about the Hadit forumn. Justme & Hubby(Vietnam Vet'69)
  9. Husband just awarded 100% Schedular P&T 9/2007. Thanks to all the Hadit members for all your help. Justme
  10. This whole process is so complicated and discouraging. I sometimes wish my husband just continued his PTSD counselling and never put in a claim. Thank for you help
  11. Josephine, The medical records that we are waiting for are the most recent ones from his private doctors. When my husband put in his claim last year his SO had him sign a consent form for his service medical and personal records. We are assuming his records where sent to whoever has his claim. A few weeks ago we also requested his records from St.Louis and are still waiting. His SO has really been no help to us,and it was only after finding this site did we realize all we needed to do. Thank you
  12. Hi Josephine, Thank you for the welcome. The medical records that we are waiting for,are from his private doctors. Thank you
  13. My Husbands C&P Exam is next Tuesday. There is a good chance we will not have medical reports from two of his doctors. Keeping our fingers crossed that we will have them the end of next week. Should my husband tell the examiner that his claim is not complete??? Or do you usually have some time before it goes to the raters. Thank You
  14. Hoppy, Thank you for your reply. So this C&P Exam is covering everything that my husband claim if for...ptsd,hearing loss.......?? We are waiting on a couple IMO's that should come this week. Should my husband bring these to his C&P Exam on June 5? They are notes from the ENT and the his Orthopedic surgeon. Or should he give them to his SO to send in? Or do both? Thanks again!
  15. Here I am back again with another question. Last June when my husband put in his claim it was for PTSD,Hearing loss,Hernia,Thumb injury,Depression. He received a letter from the VA today. This is the first paragraph: "In order to process your claim for compensation or pension benefits, the Veterans Benefits Administration has requested a current medical examination. We have scheduled this examination for; Tuesday June 5,2007 2:00PM C&P Dr. XXXXXXX I decided to look up Dr. XXXX on the web and found out he is a Cardiovascular/Thoracic Surgeon. This just seems very strange to us since my husband has no claim for heart problems. We thought when he went in for his C&P Exams it would be with doctors who specialize in his various claims. Can anyone tell us if this seems right or should we be questioning this with someone? Thank You
  16. Thank you all for taking the time to help. My husband has been diagnosed with PTSD and has been going to a vet center weekly for counseling. When he put in his claim last June the service rep told him that the VA will provide his SMR's. However since I started reading this site, we decided to send for them ourselves. We did this a couple weeks ago. What my husband did do when he filed his claim back in June was write out his stressors and get his private medical records. These have been sent to his SO. We were just not sure if he had to provide a personal statement for each of his claims. Thank again everyone!
  17. I found this site a few weeks ago and have been reading it everday. My husband who is a Ex Marine Vietnam Vet put his first claim in June '06,and still waiting for a C&P exam. Although he has a SO he has not recieved much help, if any from him. My husbands claim is for PTSD,Hernia surgeries, Hearing loss/ringing in the ear,and a injury to his thumb.(He recieved a PH for). I know that I will be back here with other questions, but for now what I would like to know is, does my husband need to write a statement for each of his claims. Something that he needs to bring with him when he goes for each of his C&P exams. I would appreciate any help that you can give us,since we are so lost with all that needs to be done. Thank you!
