My wife had a stroke 2 years ago. She had weakness on her left side and a little difficulty with speech and being able to think of certain words. She has been developing irrational fears and constant excessive worrying. For awhile she was afraid the floors in our house where bad and all heavy objects should be removed from the house. This has been progressing to other fears and paranoia. Our doctor wants her to see a psychiatrist. Every psychiatrist we have contacted in our area refuses to take ChampVA insurance. My wife has ChampVA because I am a 100% disabled veteran and she also has Medicare. They will accept Medicare but I think ChampVA is the first payer. ChampVA says they don`t understand why they are not accepted as they pay claims just like Medicare. We were sent to County Mental Health but after 2 visits were told our income is too high. We feel trapped and don`t know what to do.
