About a year ago I was awarded zero percent compensation for bi-lateral hearing loss although SC (acoustic trauma). I did receive 10% tinnitus. My question or concern is how does the VA arrive at a compensation level for hearing loss? Is it an average of the loss of hearing in both ears after combining the loss percentage and averaging it out. Or is is pursuant to 38CRF33.85 that seems to award compensation based on a hearing loss 40 dB in any one of the frequencies or a hearing loss of 26 dB or greater in at least three of the frequencies. I'm confused.
Thanks.
