  1. I think I got the right one now, but the damage has been done.....the one I got fits a whole lot better.
  2. It is SC, which I figured might be a good chance at it.....
  3. I use a CPAP machine and it has give me a large black scar on my nose. It is very noticeable and embarrassing. It was caused by my mask. It was small in the begining, as it was healing it just became bigger and black as it was healing. Can I claim scarring for this and get a percentage. I wouldn't worry about it, but like I said it is so noticeable and embarrassing. Any advice.
  4. thanks for all the info I am getting, I didn't know about some of the state benefits that is offered and other info.....this site is great....all i can say is thanks a heap again.....goes to show you, there is always something more you can learn with the help of others.
  5. The letter is dated 8 Mar 09 and I received the letter on 9 Mar 09. As for the federal job, the only points I could claim at the time was the 5% for my years in the Air Force. I was surprised myself that I beat out others who might have applied for it with a greater disability rating, but my background did fit the job perfectly so maybe that is why I got the job offer, not sure. HR did tell me to bring in my rating once I get it to get it updated in the federal system. I will be checking that link out for state benefits....I am interested on what they offer for veterans with disabilities.
  6. Yeah, something to think about, my DMII is still uncontrolled, the VA here in Tucson has been great with working with me with it, so hopefully I will get it under control soon, or I might be able to get IU, but I rather have my health.
  7. With my C&P exam happening on 14 Jan, I finally got rated as of March 8. I had 7 items down for rating but only got rated for 4 (Sleep Apnea, DMII, Degenerative Disc Disease, Hypertension) with total of 70%. Also I got SMC for Erectile Dysfunction. They did not give me a percentage on ED, just the SMC. I am pretty happy with the rating and want complain. There are things I wished I did different. This forum was a big help, so thanks to all. I start my Federal job next week and things seems to be coming together for me (knock on wood). Thanks again, for everyone that ever offered advice and also for everyone postings that also helped me through this rating process.
  8. I was active duty Air Force with 23 years in before they medically retired me. At least I got out with my retirement pay. I got medically retired for DMII. Also my commander wrote with my MEB package that I couldn't deploy and I am an hinderance to the Sq (load of B.S.), it was just his way of trying to get rid of the older MSgts in the Sq....over 70% of the MSgts in the SQ retired because of the way management were being treated, but I degress. Once my paperwork went to the PEB, it came back quickly with a medical retirement at 20%. I was given 90 days at that point. I had to some leave days plus I the permissive TDY. I was gone in 3 weeks. I was given the chance to go in front of the PEB if I wanted to reject their findings, but decided not to, I was ready to move on. So you can drag it out if they offer you that, but only a couple of months or maybe more....also you might can convince them to keep you in when you meet them. Good luck.
  9. Papa, Actually I will be working at Ft. Huachuca....it is an administrative assistant position workings in the planning division as I was told by my sponsor. Do you work for DISA.....???? If so how is the environment you work at.....????
  10. Thanks Papa and Vync.... The way you explained that surgery really is scary and I see why you wouldn't do it...sounds pretty extensive. I will check out the links Vync sent just to satisfy my curiosity. Didn't know about a bipap machine, will check that out also. thanks for the info. As far as the Govt job is, it is working for DISA.....I start in two weeks. Not sure where you retired from Papa, but congrats in your retirement.
  11. I have OSA and will be service connected for it...my question is....the CPAP machine does not do alot with helping me getting enough sleep...it helps a little, but not as much as I want or should work. I still have sleepy episodes during the day and still feel like I never get enough sleep when I wake up in the morning. Even the PA who did my C&P exam noticed I had a relative large uvula. I like to have surgery, and was told by someone that if I have surgery sleep apnea would be rated as 100%. The reason why I want the surgery is because I will be starting work again (I'm retired) and the commute is 1 hour both ways. My girlfriend said I shouldn't do it, but it is a federal position which allows me to at least get my foot into the system. I guess my main question is will Sleep Apnea with the surgery would rate 100% or any percentage more the the 50% just for sleep apnea alone....????
  12. Where can I go to get a copy of my C-File for my C&P examination and how long does it take....???? Thanks.
  13. I am pending my rating from the VA at this time. I have already done my C&P and have Sleep Apnea, DMII, Pes Planus and Hypertension for my SC Conditions. I am hoping it doesn't get any worse, cause that would really suck....I have an appt on Friday so I will tell my doc then.
  14. I gotta tell ya, talking to a doctor about this will be embarrassing, but I guess I should....it happens usually when I either sit down or get up....an on some occassions when I am not doing anything at all...and yes it's urinary.
  15. Has anyone has this problem and was wondering if my medications might be the cause....I have sleep apnea and DMII and Hypertension......thanks for any info.
  16. When I retired, they took my CAC because I no longer needed it. As an 23 year retiree I got issued the Blue Card (DD Form 2) which allowed me the use to come on base anytime I want and to use the base facilities. The CAC are only issued to Active duty, contractor personnel or GS personnel that need access to unclassified computer network for that installation. They have a chip in the card itself that has certain type of information held within it. They can log on to the base computer network and perform thier duties as required by their contract. So my understanding is that you will not get a CAC unless you work for the military installation, but you could get other type of identification that allows you access and privileges to the base.
  17. The first time I submitted request through IRIS I didn't receive a confirmed receipt....this time I received one...maybe the first one didn't go through. I guess I will wait and see what happens in the next few days.
  18. Wow, could only be so lucky....I am guessing he had issues that was that obvious and serious enough verfied through his medical records for that to happen. That's awesome though.
  19. I sent it today, after the 5 day response elapsed. Hoping I might get something this time.
  20. I was told that you can get a claim resolved without and C&P examination....is this true...this was told to me by a individual answering the (800) number for claims.
  21. Has anyone has a problem with the VA IRIS...??? I asked a question about my claim through the system and requested a telephone response...well after 5 days nothing. So I did a second request and asked for response by e-mail. Is this typical for the IRIS with no responses...???
  22. I take insulin and Metformin for my DMII....the metformin makes me sick as a dog and gives me the runs real badly which i sometimes can't control. I was thinking the same thing. If I take the metformin as told, I am no good at any job, this medication gives me stomach cramps from hell and makes me feel like throwing up, which feels like a constant sensation. And the wrong sensation can have me crapping myself if I am not careful. I can't even think about getting any work done when feeling like this, and believe me it is a very, very bad feeling. But if I don't take I am fine but my blood sugar sky rockets.
  23. Below are the answers to questions i pulled from your responses. I will tell my VA rep to send in the PEB report for me. Maybe that will get the ball rolling. Thanks for your responses, I never though of it that way. Maybe I can teach my VA Rep something. Is this the same rep you told you the other stuff? Yes, this is the same Rep that has been guiding me to get my C&P exam and VA benefits. IS this a VA employee or a veteran';s org vet rep? He is a Veteran's Rep that works for the state of AZ... PS did he mention at all that you might be eligible for CRDP? I also have Sleep Apnea, Hypertension, Herniated disc, hemmaroids, Pes Planus and Erectile Dysfunction (I am claiming all of those which are in my medical records). I know with Sleep Apnea alone I should get 50% so he told me i would be eligible for CDRP. You mean 23 years of service right? or 23 years old? 23 Years of active duty Do you have any additional documented disabilites that could be due to the DMII? Like heart disease, TIAs, peripheral neuropathy, renal problems, vision problems, ED - etc etc and if so did he tell you to claim them all? I know I have vision problems and ED those others I am not quite sure of, what are they (peripheral neurapathy, renal problems)...??? Are you insulin dependent? I take insulin once a day currently and metformin (which makes me sick as a dog and I get the runs badly). You can't get PDRL with just 20%. You must be more then 30% to be considered medically retired, otherwise you are just considered medically separated. I was active duty with 23 so they just medically retired me and put PDRL in my report from the PEB. They only gave me 20%.
  24. The Air Force gave me a 20% and PDRL. I didn't turn that paperwork in because my VA rep said it didn't matter, because the VA will give their own rating. He has been doing this for years so I went with what he said. I will inquire about it with him monday. Yes, I have a disc with all my medical records on it....the Air Force provides you with a paper copy and a disc copy. The Paper copy was turned into the VA in September to start my process. Thanks for the responses.
  25. I am totally confused on this issue. I recently was medically retired due to DM II not being under control (Long Story). I was at 23 years, I think they just pushed me out. Anyways I started my process in Sept to get set-up for my C&P exam. Turned in my records to VA and did everything I was supposed to. I still yet to get my C&P exam and I officially retire on Nov 28. My VA rep (who is awesome and is very helpful) have been on these guys and the last word he got is that they are awaiting my Service Records. My VA rep is dumbfounded because he has never heard of that. I mean they have all of my medical records that I turned in back in Sep. My VA rep thinks I might have a individual that doesn't have a clue in handling VA claims and it is costing me time. Has anyone ever heard of the VA requesting Service Records for an individual just to get an C&P exam....my VA rep is confused as well as I am. He is working the issue so I'm not worried on his part, but the VA is leaving a bad taste so early on in the process.
