  1. The Muskogee, Ok VA seems to be great to work with. Both claims I've filed have been approved pretty quickly when compared to the other postings I've read. The first was approved in about 6 months, and the second was approved in 4 months. I should give a lot of the credit to my rep at the DAV office. He worked on my claim and let me know what was going on. The medical care at the Oklahoma City VAMC is not so great. It may just be my Doc, but he seems pretty disinterested in my complaints that aren't directly associated with my service connected problems. He complains if I use my personal doctor or a specialist on my own insurance, but doesn't offer much in the way of alternatives, and the waiting time for specialist are pretty long. Maybe I'm just looking for something to complain about. The VA has been good to me so far.
  2. My ratings are as follows: 1. Right knee lateral instability 20% 2. Left knee degenerative arthritis associated with right knee 20% 3. Left shoulder spurring associated with right knee 10% 4. Right hip strain associated with right knee 10% 5. Right knee arthritis 10% 6. Degenertive arthritis, left hip associated with right knee 10% On the rating decision sheets the section titled "Subject to Compensation" is listed, but the section titled "Combined Evaluation for Compensation" has been covered before copying. Is this unusual, or is the evaluation not given with the c-file. Thanks again for the help jc1950
  3. How do you determine the VA's method of calculating your disability. I have just received a copy of my c-file, and had hoped there would be information, or a work sheet that showed the process. I am rated on both knees, both hips, and a shoulder. If anyone can shed light on the subject please let me know. My total disabilty is 70%, and I can't tell the order of the disabilities or how they are used. Thanks for the input!
  4. I'm sorry to hear about the TTP. Contact Dr. James George with the Oklahoma University Medical Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He is the "man" in the U.S. for this disease. He treated a good friend of mine for TTP about 5 years ago. The treatment process is long and involved, but he has had a lot of sucess with platelet transfusions. My buddy wouldn't be here today without this doc. Dr. James N. George 825 N.E. 10th Oklahoma City, Ok 405-271-8299
  5. Thanks for all the help!! You folks have answered my questions. I was being told different things by everyone I asked prior to posting here. You were right cowgirl, the reading was involved, but very informative. Being new to the VA system poses a real problem trying to read and understand the regs and rules. Hopefully, with time I'll get better at it. Thanks again.
  6. I am currently rated 70% for Service Connected right and left knee injuries. Does anyone know if I can have a knee replaced and draw 100% compensation using a private orthopedic surgeon at a non VA hospital? This is my first post, and I appreciate any and all information and help.
