  1. I was planning on asking her to marry me. Sorry I wasn't specific in my OP. That was why I was asking questions about whether it's be wise to add them since their statuses are changing. They do specify that they allow common law marriage and adopted children. I do have the ability to show some evidence of this. Under the strictest definition of these status they probably wouldn't fall into those categories. I heard that the VA was somewhat easy going about how they define these titles. We all live together and I provide half the care for the kids. Their biological father died in an accident many years ago. Like I said in the OP just trying to do the best for my family. Getting married and everything being 100% legal and indisputable sounds like the best option. Thanks for your reply. It really did help me.
  2. First time posting on here hopefully I'm in the right category. I'm 100% P&T no further exams scheduled. I'd like to add my girlfriend and her two children to my VA compensation. The extra couple of bucks will be more than welcome in taking care of my family, but mainly I worry about them not having health care coverage and access to funds for school. I'd like to add them as dependents so they can get CHAMPVA and use chapter 35. I've received the letter saying my dependents are eligible. She has lived with me for two years. What I'm worried about is that I'll try to add them and this will trigger a Comp and Pen exam which otherwise would never occur. Of course if my benefits get reduced i'll be less able to take care of my family which is my goal in adding them. Background on me. Left military in 2008 rated at 50% combined. Was increased to 100% in 2011. Was increased to 100% P&T just over one year ago. Rating is 100% for PTSD and Anxiety Disorder. Any info helping me with this would be so greatly appreciated. I've really tried to just accept a different more therapeutic life and even though I struggle. I try to do what I can to take care of myself and make positive decisions. Trying to do the best I can, but worrying I might be shooting myself in the foot.
