  1. I recently filed for disability for CLL (Chronic Lymphatic Leukemia) linked to Trichloroethelene (TCE ) exposure while in the service. TCE is - that sweet-smelling cleaning solvent we used so much of in the '60's. Has anyone any experience, good or bad, dealing with the VA about cancers from TCE? I was on a base where it was in the groundwater and in an MOS where we used it almost daily in our work.

    Fort Devens, Ma

Ft. Devens was declared an EPA Superfund Cleanup site in 1989. Postings from the EPA list a large number of toxic chemicals in the groundwater, including PFOA, PFAS, TCE, arsenic, and many others. The city of Ayer had to close one of their water wells due to the spillage at Devens. I have seen rumors that AO was on base for MP training purposes during Vietnam (not at the ASA TC&S), but have not found confirmation or exact dates; I was there in '62-'63, which may have been before AO was in use there.
