  1. My husband applied for each of them, although it's The Foot, pes planus has a few nexus claims. Waiting for envelope to tell us if he was approved.
  2. How did the evaluation go? I was told that the program is making cuts and I just had my yearly so I am in shambles wondering what's next and how long before I am told
  3. I am 100% P&T and I had surgery on a non service connected part of my body. The surgery caused an infection and was required to use a steroid cream, am I entitled to a clothing allowance since it was the surgery that caused my skin disorder?
  4. I have been quiet on had it for many years, although I always would get updates. To See RUR so rude he may want to go to Facebook with that drama. The fact he questioned Berta's knowledge is almost delete worthy.
  5. I realized after I got my 100% that I just came on the thread and read, but never had input and that's unfair because hadit.com helped me get my 100% after 7 months and it took my dad who was a Vietnam Vet 6 years and sadly he died within 6 months of his 100%. So now it's time for me to give back to what I received from here....SUPPORT

  6. I am wondering if there is anyone currently receiving Independent Living Assistance. I have been home for almost 2 years now after retiring and now I am just bored...who would have thought. <_< I was denied Voc Rehab due to my SC disability and I am receiving SSDI so I want to find something to do on my semi-good days especially now that most shows will be going on hiatus and reruns will start on shows that I watch daily.
  7. Spent the day at mt Dad and we found his Workman's Comp disapproval letter stating that his asbestos came from being below deck on Navy Vessels for 10 years. We have a buddy that is willing to write a statement as to where my Dad spent most of his time below deck in the boiler rooms. He is feeling better today and ready to fight, fight, fight. I will post what they wrote about his asbestos tomorrow a little tired from such a hard day.
  8. Jbasser, My Dad is a Retired Damage Controlman and although he is able to still somewhat enjoy life about 8 years ago he was diagnosed with asbestos and he put in for Workmans Comp and everyone of those doctors claim that he received got asbestos from being exposed in the Navy. He served on every old asbestos ship. We are going to send his previous doctors notes stating it was from him being in the Navy. Thank you guys so much. I am trying to remain positive, but my Dad is the reason I joined the Navy, because he spoke so highly of the places and things he did that I wanted to do the same. I was given 100% within 14 months of my retirement.
  9. My Dad just received his Brown Envelope and he was DENIED FOR EVERYTHING. He has Asbestiosis, Sleep Apnea, Pulmonary Hypertension and Cluster Headaches. He was told that the Asbestos was caused by his job that he did when after he got out the Navy. He was told by his job when he filed a Worksmans Comp claim that his Asbestos was caused by the Navy. Tomorrow I will be going to his house to see the letter to begin doing an immediate Notice of Disagreement. We will be sending in the letter from the previous doctor's saying he got it from the Navy. The pulmonary hypertension and sleep apnea is secondary to his asbestos so I think. He said he began getting cluster headaches when he was in Vietnam on the ships and them shooting the guns causing him sever headaches. I will be getting a buddy statement to tell about how they would shoot the guns and it would cause hiim great distress. Any other assistance to help my Dad will be anticipated, because as some of you Vietnam Vets know they find ways to screw you. Here I am 100% and he damn near can't breath and they tell him NO. I WILL FIGHT THE GOOD FIGHT.
  10. This post is so sad, because I use to peruse another message board, but their total disrespect for eachothers opinion was totally out of line. What I like about Hadit is that the Moderators on here really know how to mediate the board. We all have opinions and we have to learn to agree to disagree. Most on this board suffer from some type of mental disorder and are entitled to a bad day and vent, but that does not mean that person should be able to always do it (if they do). The person that is reading the post if you don't like what they say do one or two things keep reading and not reply or reply what you would have said and not post it(something I learned at a conference) :P Peace and Blessings To All
  11. Berta, He submitted his claim the same time as mine Oct 06 and had made little headway since, but the last couple months they had said it was at the Rating Board so this is the first time they said anything about an Adjudicator. When I was awaiting my claim I was just told mine was on the Adjudicator's Desk and within 2 weeks I recceived some money with another 2 weeks awaiting the Brown Envelope. I tried to cover all his bases just in case they did not give him 100% I requested IU with the claim and also had him sign the form to waive his Navy retirement.
  12. Hello Everyone, My dad just called and said his claim is on the Senior Adjudicator's Desk. Can anyone explain to me what this means? Thank you.
  13. Hello Everyone, I must say that I am feeling really estatic right now. I retired from the Navy Sept 06 and within that time I have been approved for SSDI the first time and reading some of these stories I am schocked that I was approved the first time and within 5 months from submission to payment. I was granted 70% when I submitted my claim Oct 06 with approval March 07. I knew that my decision should have been higher so instead of putting in an appeal and waiting years I reopened my claim in June 07 requesting an increase based on new medical evidence and also requested IU. I was denied IU, because they gave me SC 100% P&T!!!!!!! I currently have a daughter in college and we have already completed all her paperwork for Chap 35 benefits since she is already going to school for free due to me living in Calif needless to say this is her and my son's college fund because with the money I was making on Active Duty I did not have a chance to put money to the side for this so I can sleep much better now. Me and my neighbor visit this site almost daily and it was because of his guidance that I was approved so THANK YOU NEIGHBOR. This site has kept me abreast of so many things to do if things had not worked out for me, but it also gave me an insight to how different VRA work. GOOD LUCK MY FELLOW VETS and fight for what you know you deserve.
  14. Oneshot, I understand what your saying but I know people that work with 70% mental, but rated 100% with other SC disabilities. Every situation has to be judged on its own merit and not put in one nicely wrap bow or we will all suffer. I currently am at 70% on SSDI and retired Navy and have put in a claim for TDIU, because my mental is not where it should be although there are days I feel invincible and then there are days that I cannot move. That is the reason most employers have laws governing disabled vets and ensuring that they are not discriminated against due to their disability.
  15. Yes, he is working on an asbestos claim and has been diagnosed with it so I am trying to get his records USS OKLAHOMA CITY CLG 5 OCT1960-OCT61 USS CHARLES E. BRANNON DE 446 OCT 1961-SEP1962 USS JOSEPH STRAUSS DDG DEC1962-OCT1964 USS HOLLISTER DD 788 OCT1964-SEP1965 USS MCKEAN DD 784 SEP 1965-SEP 1968
  16. I am assisting my father in his claim with asbestiosis as well as many other service connected conditions and they are giving him such a run around. He filed his claim Oct 06, was told in June 07 that his claim was at the Rating Board. Called back about July 07 was told they were awaiting more medical evidence from his other doctors, he was able to have the doctor to mail him and VA the records. He called back a few weeks later was told that his claim was back at the Board and that he did not even need a C&P since he had so much information. Then he calls back Sept 07 he was told he needed a C&P and one was scheduled for him. He went to that appointment and waited a few weeks and then was told that he now needed a Pulmonary function exam(duh) so they had to reschedule him for that. He started calling back in Oct 07 and was told him process until last week he was told they are requesting proof that he was on all the ships he documented from the DOD. Now my question is can someone tell me where I can request this information is it the place in St. Louis so we can request the records for ourselves and give them to the VA so they can begin his process again. Any assistance is greatly appreciated.
  17. When was your surgery? Did you have to apply for it?
  18. Was it a claim for conditions you already had claimed? What I would like to know what was the timeline from when you had your C&P?
  19. I was told on Friday that they could not tell me if my claim was approved for an increase, but I was told by the VA that once the claim is signed they send authorization to the Treasury for payment and if you already have Direct Deposit then it's faster
  20. Yesterday I was told to call back everyday about my claim since it was in adjudication and they will be able to tell me if I was approved for my Unemployabiity so of course I wake up this morning and call and the first lady tells me " your package is at the rating board you should have an answer in abut 60 days". I tell her that I know my claim is in adjudication could she tell me the status? She says, "It's with a Rater". I call back in about 5 minutes to speak with another Rep and was told that my claim has been determined just that it needs to be signed off and to call back next week, because they can give me the status after it's approved. I find it amazing how each rep tells you something different. I hope since they said it needs some authorization it means I was approved for my Unemployability.
  21. <H3 align=center>VA Disability Claims and Appeals Process</H3>1. Application: The veteran begins the process by completing and submitting an application for disability compensation benefits with the VBA. 2. Triage: The triage team has the responsibility for reviewing, controlling, and processing all incoming mail. Team members are responsible for deciding whether a claim can be processed immediately or it will need additional development. 3. Pre-Determination: (Development Initiation): The pre‑determination team’s primary function is to develop evidence for disability compensation claims. At this time, a VA examination may be scheduled if medical evidence obtained by such an examination is necessary for a fair determination of the claim 4. Pre-Determination: (Evidence Gathering): During this phase, team members obtain all pertinent military medical records. 5. Rating: VA rating specialists make decisions on claims that require consideration of medical evidence. 6. Post-Determination: After a rating specialist has decided a claim for disability compensation, members of the post-determination team process awards for disability compensation benefits and they notify claimants of decisions. 7. Appeals: The primary function of the appeals team is the expeditious processing of appeals and remands. The team is responsible for establishing and monitoring appealed claims, developing issues on appeal and preparing revised ratings when a review indicates that the appeal can be favorably decided based upon the evidence of record. 8-9. Appeals: If the veteran is not satisfied with adjudication of their claim by the VBA, the veteran can file an appeal with the Board of Veterans’ Appeals 10- 11. Appeals: If the veteran is not satisfied with a decision rendered by the Board of Veterans’ Appeals, the veteran can file an appeal with the US Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims. Not shown on the chart is the public contact team. VA conducts personal interviews with, and answers telephone calls from, veterans and beneficiaries seeking information regarding benefits and claims. VA directs claims and evidence to triage via personal interviews, telephone calls, e‑mails, and other outreach activities.
  22. Today I called the VA to see if there was any answers on my UI as well as my reopened claim for migrains and depression and I was told that my claim was in adjudication. I then asked if she could tell me if my UI was approved and I was told that if I had a POA then they would be able to tell me, but she is not at liberty too. :D I said the whole point of a POA is if you want someone else to handle "my claim" and since it's my claim I should be able to get an answer about ME. She commenced to explain to me that SO's have a special clause that they will be able to get answers before the VET. I chose to handle my claim myself so that I do not have to worry about my claim being put in the middle of a desk and hope that they feel like working on that claim, or now since the holiday's are approaching people will be taking vacation and once again my claim is just sitting. I was told to call daily and maybe someone will give me some answers....
  23. I was approved for SSDI and was not given an end date. I do know that they will review your case every few years and as long as your still not working and can prove your still ill then really that is all they do. My mother has been on SSDI for 30 years and was just told that she will not have anymore exams. My mom has tried to work, because she is a teacher but although she enjoyed the money physically it was to demanding for her condition. Don't allow the date to scare you just try to relax for now as the extra money coming in will make a big difference.
  24. As bad as I do need the money, I would still prefer for VN vets to recieve their benefits before us. My dad and I submitted our claims 2 days apart and he is waiting and here now I am about to have my reopened claim done before he is even given consideration on his first claim.
