  1. I’m new here but I am in the business of helping veterans to get increased, I work with a near all veteran company and we work with ex-VA raters so I have all kinds of answers and advice! I’m happy to answer as much as I can! Enjoy your trip, oh and I’m sorry to say that my mother has the cutest grandchild. Sorry.
  2. Well, did you file a claim recently for Obstructive Sleep Apnea? If so, they will need to do a C&P exam. Did you get diagnosed by the VA or a private doctor? If private, you should upload your medical records ASAP to va.gov so the VA knows. I have no idea what the 45 min exam is for but if you only filed for OSA then the examiner will not care to discuss any other disabilities with you (PTSD) as they would only be filling out a DBQ for OSA (having only been sent this with your profile from the VA claims dept.). You can call the 3rd party handling the exam and ask them specifically what the exam is for. They have to tell you. Maybe that will clear things up for you.
  3. Feel free to pass this along- I’m not sure I can answer your exact question but here are my thoughts- IU is never as good as getting increased as the VA can and will continue to investigate your ability to work each year. You will if granted, get paid at 100% while it lasts but your ratings would stay the same unless you got an increase/decrease. Another note- if these disabilities are shown to have occurred during your time in service, then the fact that they’ve now diagnosed, shouldn’t change that. I can get a back rating from a 10% to a 40/20/20 [ROM plus radiculopathy), increase knees to maybe 20 or 30% each etc. you could very well end up at 100% and not need IU as well as gain the benefits. I’m Jennifer with Veteran Consulting Service 619-737-2250 if you want to chat.
  4. Individual unemployability means you remain at your current rating (for you 80%) and then are compensated at 100% without actually being rated at 100%. This is not permanent. The VA can reevaluate this IU each year to ensure you’re still not able to work. It’s best to get increased to 100% as you may hit P&T and get the benefits as well. Call me if you need 619-737-2250
