  2. I am going to be moving to Manila, Philippines and I just wandered if anyone knows if this will effect my TDIU. Also wanted to know if anyone is familiar with or ever used the VA Outpatient Clinic in Pasay City Philippines, I know this is the only VA Clinic and Also they have an RO office there. I wanted to see how the medical treatment is there and the RO. THanks
  3. Ok several years ago I had a daughter with my ex wife. This child is my biological child. Now she is 16. I am receiving IU now. My ex wife and I divorced when I was very young and I let her new husband adopt our 8 month old daughter. My daughter and I are back in contact and are very close now. Although she has been adopted , but if the adopted father lets me have my daughter back and I go through the court to adopt her back into my name( I am biological father) can she receive benefits as well or how will that work. Will the VA cover her schooling? Also for social security if I adopt her back will she recieve benefits as well.
  4. does anyone know if the VA does implants or only false teeth. I was told I need to have teeth removed to reduce infection. I am IU and I know I am covered for dental but will they do false teeth or implants.

  8. I am still a little confused. Last February I was granted IU. The award letter I got stated that NO FUTURE EXAM WILL BE SCHEDULED. I always thought with this in an award letter that it is P&T not IU, but according to VA I am not P&T , they said I am I&U. Is this true? and will I continue to collect this for remainder of life? Also should I consider applying for P&T? any feedback much appreciated.
  9. It really was a question, I was just wondering if you could part time is all. I am just new to this and not sure of all the requirements concernining if you can work or not.
  10. I have no dependents and am single
  11. I just have few questions. I was awarded IU back in February but it did not state P/T. It says "No Future Examinations to be Schedule". Does this mean P/T? Also I have read on here in a few postings about working. Are we allowed to try and go back to work and if unable to work for 12 months then it will not affect I/U? Is is correct in how I am reading this. Can someone explain? Thanks
  12. Hi guys been awhile since I have been on here hope everyone is well. I have already been awarded 100% and they retroed me back till July 05. In 1990 I was assaulted and hit by a car when I was jumped by 6 individals trying to rob me and I was hurt really bad in the course of this. I had leg injury, (several leg surgeries), ear injury, and this caused me to go into major depression, and become an alcholic. In 1994 VA awarded me 10% and that was it for depression and right calf injury, and over course of next 13 year depression and alcohol worsened. I recently received a file from Navy Jag dated September 1990 that is transcript of the whole incident and stated I was minding my own business when this happended and the individuals who assaulted me had be drinking and they also prior to assaulting me was causing problems with other people and the MP's never came to check it out even though they were called. My question is should I push for more retro since I feel I should have at least been 50% in 1994. This report is very detailed and states entire incident and that 2 of these individuals were being brought up on attempted murder charges from civilian authorities do to it was in course of trying to rob me.
  13. I am in Chicago and the VARO there for DRO reviews are pretty quick, took from August 2007 the time I requested DRO and got my decision back on Feb 08, 2008. So took about 6 months.
  14. I was approved for TDIU and I am receiving a large retro pay. I got an email saying that my retro check will be issued Feb 21st. Does this mean they will direct deposit it or mail a check since it is a large amount? And if Direct Deposit does that mean it will be in my account on Feb 21st or probably a few days after? Thanks
  15. I was just approved for this and also get SSDI. How does working Part time effect it? Not saying I want to, at ALL, but my therapist said at VA I could work and get IU P&T. I do not buy that
  16. I was just received my approval letter last weekend for award of IU P&T and they encourage me to do VOC REHAB does that effect IU P&T especially if you get a job after completeing program, kind of pointless to be IU P&T and do VOC Rehab any thoughts
  17. It just mean you can logon to website to see Social Security Account Info. At least that is what I was told, does not necessarrily mean your application has been approved
  18. Does anyone know how long it takes to get your retro pay. I just got my letter from DRO for IU P&T approval. Just wandering how long it takes to get retro pay. I know that letter states my IU P&T payment will start March 1.
  19. I thought I met the s/c for my leg and depression but I guess in 2004 I did not, so they went more off the stroke since it got me more money at the time according to them. I currently have a claim in for PTSD and also filed CUE on the pension issue several weeks ago, but I am thinking I may withdraw the CUE and claim for PTSD because I do not want any undo attention brought to the pension and then I may have to pay it back. The non service connection was for a stroke and no I am not service connected for it at all. Only 10 percent was s/c for depression at that time How long does it take to get the retro pay? 15 days they said, but that seems to short of time

  21. It states " We are using an effective date July 8, 2005, as the date service connected disabilitlies met the schedular requirements for this benefit. This is considered a total grant of benefits sought on appeal for this time. I understand why they did it this way I think because I was receiving Non Service Connected pension from August 1st 2004 to August 1st 2005, so by using the July 2005 then I will not have to pay back the pension. I think this seems right. Yes and I found where it does say P & T in the letter.
  22. It is Chicago VARO, what is P & T by the way. Yes they sent me a letter also that talks about Deers, commissary privledges also. Also I noticed my original application for IU was October 2004, and wondering why they only went back to July 2005,, that is was suppose to be back to the original application date
  23. Yes the DRO did that job here and I wish the raters would have done their jobs. The DRO clearly stated a Hospitalization that was in Feb 2006 and and when I took a look at my other rating decisions I did not even see this hospitalization mentioned. She made it obvious without admitting to a CUE's that the other decisions were not completely looked at. She also put in the decision "THAT NO FUTURE EXAMINATIONS WILL BE SCHEDULED" is this typical that they put in a rating decision.
  24. I filed NOD July 2007 and just got decision today. So about 6 months it took DRO to make decision
  25. I just got my decison today from DRO and I won my claim for 100 percent service connection, back dated till july 2005. It was along hard road but worth it. I would like to say thanks to you all. Especially Wings!!!
