  1. I'm trying to determine whether those Vietnam War era vets who qualify for AO benefits because of bladder or prostate cancer have either high grade cancer or low grade cancer (high grade being the type of cancer that tends to come back over time.). This is for an informal study I'm doing on Agent Orange. I personally have bladder cancer following a tour of duty years ago (Da Nang, Class of '71) and my cancer is high grade.
  2. When I retired, I received my medical records which were unfortunately lost. How can the VA research what I was treated for while on active duty if the original records were lost while in my possession?
  3. No problem. Thanks for your service to the country.
  4. Right ear 56 (96). Speech discrimination is in parentheses. Left ear 50 (98). Speech discrimination is in parentheses. I ordered my c-file yesterday.
  5. Hi Berta, I'm a Vietnam War vet, had the full scope of ear exams (wax, infections, etc.) VA has 2-3 audio exams on me. Not sure what the C&P examiner wrote. I'd like to get hearing aids from the VA, but my VSO told me I need at least some percent on my SC hearing loss.
  6. I have a service connected hearing loss at 0%. I've had a C&P as well as private hearing tests mfor the sake of some compensation. My sensorineural (tone) testing reveals moderate to profound loss of hearing at different decibels in both ears, but I do well on the speech recognition test, so I get denied. So, on the basis of the speech recognition test, my claim was denied. Problem is, I can't hear very well. My wife gets frustrated several times each day, repeating herself (two or three times), I need closed caption on television, I can't hear my phone ring, or the microwave or dishwasher beep. I can't hear traffic approaching behind me. I have to sit in the front row at meetings and conferences. I've been permanently excused from jury duty based on my hearing reports. The list goes on. If I lived in a soundproof booth with headsets on (like when you take the speech recognition test), I could probably get by. But that's not real life. Any ideas on how to approach/resolve this hurtle?
