  1. Incident happened to me on the way back to the US from a Wes Pac Cruise in 1967 I was in a bar in Yokosuka,Japan (I was 20 years old) & had been there 2-3 hours when a couple of SP came in & I don't know if I talked to them or they to me or what was said for sure but the first thing that happened is I was knocked to the floor & feet were stomping on me & kicking me about the Ribs,Head & Body & them damn batons they carry were bouncing off me also So, 3 years later I was diagnosed with Epilepsy & the VA has agreed the Military caused it ( Guess it was a TBI) but it took 9 years & a Lawyer to get them to do it OK...I'm 64 now & still have the damn things GARY
  2. OK Here's my problem I guess I tried to sign up once before ( I don't remember doing it but what else is new ( LOL) OK...I put in my Name & such that is relavant & I get " This already on site" Please help...Thank you GARY

  6. OK...To keep this simple I will just use hypothical numbers Say, on 100% compensation I am drawing $1.00 & I get awarded SMC (L rate) ar $2.00 Would I be getting $3.00 per month or would I just get $2.00 per month at the higher SMC rate? Thank you GARY
  7. Scabies outbreak at Missouri Veterans Home
  8. OK I have a question I have a VA Diagnosis of PTSD & have been seeing a VAShrink for years & I did serve in a Battle Area South China Sea 1964-1967.. I was in the Navy At persent I am 100% Disabled T&P but I was wondering if there is any advantage to me for applying for this Any ideas let me know I still have the original application I put for PTSD with but it was turned down as stressor was turned down GARY
  9. Bob No problem & since I am one of the one's that may have been exposed to the mange I've been keeping a very close eye on this Also, I keep asking myself if these blood tests are 100% & if its possible that one of these diseases may lay dormanant & not show up for some years If I'm right what they are testing for is "Antibodies" that the body makes in defense of the disease but I keep asking myself " WHAT IF" Also, another way to get to same site Veterans test positive for HIV, hepatitis B, hepatitis C One thing I do know is if one gets Hep C & does the only cure they have ( maybe work...maybe not) if it doesn't kill U will damn sure make U feel like it as long as U are doing the cure Also, is it 100% proven every ones body reacts the same to these infections or what? I'm asking because I have no idea GARY Is there any recourse for any vets that may show up with this at a later date or will the VA stick with "We didn't cause it ?" Which is what the VA will now claim with the Vets that are infected

  11. T Bird Today being Tuesday 13,2010 I'm happy to say 'The VA called me yesterday & told me I'm OK" No infections Was glad to hear that
  12. T Bird I just talked to my Daughter & she said that my time to get retested is in 6 months Is that the VA or a Private Doctor that is retesting U in a week? Thanks GARY
  13. OK Here it is July 10th & I haven't heard a damn thing back from the VA But, I was there the same day as I received the letter so what ever that means guess I'll just wait until I hear something Reason I wrote this is because T Bird said she heard from them today but I haven't & I believe I was down there before her I guess I'll call them Monday & see what's up GARY
  14. This has to be a record for the amount of time a Veteran has taken to get compensation A soldier's 65-year fight with the VA
  15. Ok I have read the 5 10 & 20 protection on Disabilites with the VA But, what I'm wondering does that also to someone who is rated 100% T&P I have been being compensated by the VA at this rate for about 13 years From reading the protection rating at 10 years one can't be denied their VA Disability & at 20 they can't be reduced from their percentage of disability Do these rules also pertain to one if they are T & P? Can someone Please explain this to me? GARY
  16. I must admit I feel the same as U. I have never, yep I said 'never," had any bad experiences with any of the Docs or Dentists at the VA Hospital in St.Louis I must admit some of the Docs that do the C & Ps can be rather trying but all one has to do is give them the right answers & be cordial & its not that bad When my daughter called me & told me about that Registered Letter I didn't really think to much of it but as I read more about this happening it is beginning to be a real irritant At first I thought if I have something I already have it so what can I do about it but then I find myself asking myself....Whoa Hang On... I didn't do nothing to get the mange. Probably, maybe, hopefully nothing will come of this but I still wonder why this story has spread across the entire US or maybe it was a slow news day Suppose I'll wait & see like everyone else... Not like I have a choice GARY

John Cochran VA Medical Center in St. Louis has recently mailed letters to 1,812 veterans telling them they could contract hepatitis B, hepatitis C and human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) after visiting the medical center for dental work, said Rep. Russ Carnahan. Carnahan said Tuesday he is calling for a investigation into the issue and has sent a letter to President Obama about it. "This is absolutely unacceptable," said Carnahan, a Democrat from Missouri. "No veteran who has served and risked their life for this great nation should have to worry about their personal safety when receiving much needed healthcare services from a Veterans Administration hospital." The issue stems from a failure to clean dental instruments properly, the hospital told CNN affiliate KSDK. KSDK: VA dental patients at risk of infection Dr. Gina Michael, the association chief of staff at the hospital, told the affiliate that some dental technicians broke protocol by handwashing tools before putting them in cleaning machines. The instruments were supposed to only be put in the cleaning machines, Michael said. The handwashing started in February 2009 and went on until March of this year, the hospital told KSDK. The hospital has set up a special clinic and education centers to help patients who may have been infected. However, Carnahan said he feels more should be done and those responsible should be disciplined. "I can only imagine the horror and anger our veterans must be feeling after receiving this letter," Carnahan said. "They have every right to be angry. So am I." This is not the first time this year a hospital has been in hot water for not following proper procedures. In June, Palomar Hospital in San Diego, California, has sent certified letters to 3,400 patients who underwent colonoscopy and other similar procedures, informing the patients that there may be a potential of infection from items used and reused in the procedures.

  24. BOB...One thing we do have at John cochran in St.Louis is Valet Parking so here no one has to worry about crowded parking lots But, they did shut down the "Smoking Building" they built which was a big disappointment to a lot of us Also, it was a bit of a SNAFU cause when it rained water would sit on the ground inside even though it had a drain I heard it cost the VA 35k for the building GARY
