  1. Bill, thanks for sharing your CA letter. I find it interesting that you received this version with great detail of the "new CA" criteria, however, mine did not have all the details; it did state about multiple CAs may be considered, but giving examples of what is and is not approved based on the previous year versus 2013 criteria was not in my letter.
  2. Been using mine for over 7 years now; still not the most comfortable thing, but it really helps me sleep better; I would not go without it; hope you don't give up on it.
  3. Wow, I hope they do right by this Vet and award his EED promptly that has been long overdue.
  4. Motherof3, hang in there as the others have said; it can get very overwhelming dealing with this VA system; it will all work out in the end and your 3 angels needs you too.
  5. Congratulations on your award; well deserved!
  6. Congratulations on your award of earned benefits.
  7. This is really sad. Same thing almost happened to a Soldier I know who was recently medically retired in January 2013 after 11 years of service and multiple deployments. He was processed for administrative separation after several "behavior issues" at work and home; ultimately to find out he was suffering from severe PTSD and had to have a subsequent cardio procedure to correct an issue done in the service 4 years prior. If it was not for the MEB putting the admin separation on hold, he would have been discharged with an other than honorable discharge as that is what his command was seeking.
  8. My experience with the DAV is they were very helpful when I initially retired from the service and assisted me with my claim; that is why I joined as a lifetime member. Since then, the experience has been as many others have mentioned as far as little to no contact on claim representation. I am my own advocate; I do my own research for any claim using all available resources, primarily HADIT.com and always recommend this site to Soldiers retiring or separating from the service.
  9. I wish they had this option back in 2007 when my father-in-law passed with a pending claim.
  10. Whoever the person is that answers the 1-800-827-1000 number.....
  11. Hello Barbamatt and thank you for your service. Based on your statement above, I would recommend you contact your primary care provider to get a referral to see a behavioral health specialist if you are not already seeing one. Good luck to you and I wish you all the best in dealing with your condition.
  12. The impact or affect could be explained from an employment perspective by increased discomfort and pain while driving long trips and sitting for long periods of time. This may also cause irritability, short temperness, and decrease patience when dealing with others; just my opinion.
  13. Congrats Abbie and thanks for your selfless and dedicated service.
  14. My clothing allowance has been approved for appliances I have received from the military hospital as a military retiree/tricare prime patient and not the VA. VA tried that same "it wasn't issued by us" and denied it two years ago and when I sent them my appeal the next day, it was approved within a week; haven't had that problem since.
  15. Hello Drake2b and thanks for your service. You may want to write down a brief history of how and when your IHD started and any symptoms you may have had prior to the actual diagnosis. Also, I would recommend taking a copy of any recent medical testing you may have had. Others may respond with more useful advice too; good luck to you.
