  1. Quint7...I went to Dr Bash's website and read his rules for new patients and it says something like to send copies not originals because when he is done a reputable shredding company shreds them. I hope that is not the case for you. Call Him...
  2. really? wow, I would have never guessed that one.........glad I asked because I was way off base huh? lol thanks so much! I will probably need help with a few more, I am trying to get everything together now and figure out what everything needs to be filed under. thanks.
  3. I need help again please.....I have looked the 38 CFR over and cannot find a rating for GERD, when I file for it would I file under 7307 Gastritis, hypertrophic...I have no clue what is the closest thing to GERD.....anyone know? Thanks!!
  4. Hey NavyChief welcome to the board. I cannot help you with an answer other than to offer you my support. I do recall a Soldier about 8 years ago in my unit that had uncontrollable bowls and he received 100% IU P&T . I know that doesnt help much, I have 7 months to retire and was faced with the same question a year ago but I was able to stay so far without being forced on a medical. From what everyone told me it was better to retire then file a claim than to be put out on a medical. Take care
  5. I retire from active duty in 7 months and 4 weeks ago I had surgery for a spinal cord stimulator. I was wondering if anyone could give me an idea as to what the VA would normally rate for the spinal cord stimulator. I cannot find anything at all in the schedule ratings for that. I know the ratings for some of the muscleskeletol issue but there is absolutely nothing about a SCS I can find. Also would range of motion be included for the rating with a SCS? I had heard that with a SCS it is 100%, but I want make absolutely sure of what to expect before I retire so the VA doesn't shortchange me. I also have asthma, COPD(emphysema), had ulner nerve transposition surgery on my left elbow, GERD and sleep apnea. I think the asthma and emphysema are rated as to your condition? Sleep apnea 50% ? Any help would be appreciated.
  6. I have not been rated. I retire in 7 months, I had a lumbar lamectimy previously for bulging disc protruding on nerve. Then scar tissue grew around the nerve and that is how I ended up with the implant. I am just trying to get an idea of what the VA usually awards because everyone I have asked so far has not ran into an implant situation. Thanks
  7. Has anyone had any experience with compensation award and implants? I recently had a Spinal Cord Stimulator permenantly implanted in my back and was wondering what type of compensation I would be looking at if any at all? thanks
  8. I'm sorry I said Spinal Cord Implant (SCS), but what I meant was Spinal Cord Stimulater (SCS). Has anyone had experience with that and the VA rating them or someone you know?
  9. Thanks RentalGuy1. The laminectomy was for a herniated disc. I have tried everything except a massage. I had the Spinal Cord Implant trial, that is where they insert the wire into your spine but the battery is on the outside. It is like a Tens unit except a Tens unit feels like it stimulates the top few skins layers and the SCS gets down to the bone it seems. I didnt have 100% relief but between 50 and 75% relief. Those few days I wore it I also cut down on my meds quite a bit. I am just at the point now I am ready for some releif. I have been missing alot from work, they have been good to me so far, not requesting doctor notes but I know they will eventually get tired of it. I have already been diagnosed with depression, I had to have an evaluation done in order to be able to have the SCS trial, so a pychartistirist diagnosed me, my pcm diagnosed me and my pain manager did. I am glad I found this site. I have been reading tons ofmessages and can tell already how helpful this site is to so many veterns. Thanks.
  10. Hello. I hope someone could give me a little guidance. I am active duty and will retire in less than a year. My question pertains to just one medical condition I have. I had a Lumbar Lamectmony L5-S1 in 2002 and for 30-45 days was a new man. Scar tissue however decided to grow around a nerve and said otherwise. I now have sever chronic back and leg pain and surgury is not an option. The only two choices I have is live with it on pain meds or have surgury to recieve a Spinal Cord Implant (SCS). Even with the SCS I may still be on pain meds for life but maybe at a reduced dosage or hopefully it works and I come completly off. I have searched the internet but cannot find any references to the VA and SCS, surely I will not be the first one. My question is when I recieve this SCSm when I retire and file my claim if it does not help at all, what rating would normally be given? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
