Hello Everyone,
I was injured on active duty in July 1982. I spent 3 months in the hospital because I could not walk. After the 3 months I was able to start getting around with the help of a wheel chair. At that time I was released from the hospital. In January 1983 I was able to start walking with the help of crutches. In April 1983 I was released from active duty. I had served my 4 years on active duty.
At the time I was released from active duty I filed a claim with the Department Of Veterans Affairs for my disability.
I did not receive anything from the VA until 1995 when I could not pass a physical that was required for my job.
At that time I was granted 10% disability rating for service connected disability rating. In the spring of 2000 I was granted 60% service connected disability rating.
I moved out of that area back to another area of the country in the spring of 2006, and after moving I refiled for another time for my disability.
In march of 2007 I was awarded 100% service connected disability rating from the VA Rating board.
It was a long hard fight to receive this 100% disability rating from the VA to say the least.
Thank-You Jim Thomas
