  1. Hi Berta Yes my unit is on the AO LIST. my unit is 2nd/10th CAV, i have already sent to the VA pictures which shows where i was on the Z and off the Z, and the secter that my unit was responsible for patroling, which was sometime almost the the whole lenth of the Z. the Cav was a tanker unit[ 60 day rotation] our down time was at a place called Warrior Base or Tent City across freedom Bridge, that was aplace where alot of agent orange was sprayed, it is not really orange,it is like a red mist or dust, it was all over the tents and our clothes, we never knew what it was. Also your right about the soft tissue carcinoma, man there is so much involved. i look up some radiation sights, and raditions is associatd with Thyroid Cancer. but it involves Atomic sights, or New Mexico. PS. The picture i sent to the VA, i am in the pictures. When i had my BVA hearing, the judge seem to know alot about the DMZ.. and the guard post and Worrior Base. and she knew about PFC White who deserted to the north, that was a shock. Patrick

Hi To All Iwant to say thanks to everyone who answered my e-mail, i feel a little better, i had two ultrsound test done, one showed hypoechoic solid left lobe and some colloid cyst on the right lobe i also had THS and free t-4 testing, they always seem to be high, had a second ultra sound. this one showed cyst on both sides of the thyroid and tumors, I. Thyroid Ultrasound[feb 3,2006] simple cyst, imferior pole, right thyroid lobe 2.thyroid ultrasound[Aug4, 2006] follicular adenoma or adenomatous colloid; hypoechoic nodule, left throid nodule, r/o papillary Carcinoma 3. Tyuroid Scan[sept 25,2006} Hypofunctioning nodule, left throid lobe, r/o papillary Carcinoma. In consideration of the above findings, Mr. O'Donovan has been advised Near-total Thyroidectomy for histopathological analysis to determine the need for radioactive Iodine Ablation, If nodule turn out to be malignant My doctor to;d me that on most occations when the you have a hypofuntctioning nodule[COLD NODULE] it is most always maliginant[70%], I hope i am in the[30%]. 3. To all I found out last week that i have thyroid cancer, got my medical clarence yesterday, so i will be going into the hospital end of of the month for the operation, has anyone had this operation, and how did it effect you after the operation. is thyroid cancer in anyway connected to AO. would apprecieate any input from people who have already has this operation. when i was at my BVA hearing i talk to one of the people working there, i told him i was having the operation, he told me to put in a claim under AO as long as your doctor states it is more likely that not cause by exposer to AO. Patrick
  4. Hi to all Had my BVA hearing in Manila, vidio-conference with Washington, DC. It lasted about forty-five minutes, i had three claim pending. the first claim we talk about was my PTSD claim. the judge ask me about five questions about where i was on the Z in Korea, what was the name of the guard post i was on. also about how my ptsd effects me today. she was a little taking back by the fact that i was diagnosed with PTSD but also with chronic depression. {six times} and why VERO did not find what they callan error untill 2003. she also brough up the fact that i have been S/C since 1997, which is six years.she ask me why do i think my PTSD was servered, i told her that they did consider my ARCOM or my AFEM because i did not have a "V' for valor. then we went back to the first hearing i had in 1998, where the the adjudicator stated that my DD214 shows ARCOM and AFEM and it states in the hearing that we, meaning VARO made a mistake and should have S/C me at the time for Chronic depression, and have another C&P for PTSD. the Judge stated that to denie PTSD is not based on medals alone, there is a whole crieteria for ptsd. i told her i has another C&P in Jan 1999 and was dignosed with PTSD/ Chronic depression retro back to 1997. the judge said she was going to look at all my C&P's i had pertaing to depression and ptsd. and the last question she ask what was teh name of th town outside the DMZ. Then we move on to my heart claim, she said my record showed that i was treated for high blood pressure and high cholestro in sewrvice in 1982 i said yes i was put on a maintinance program for it, sahe ask me when was the fist time i went to complain about cvhest pain in service i t was in 1983, and i gave her dates i was diagnosed with a heart conditions and how many time, she ask me do i think my heart condition began in service i said yes. Then we moved on to my Barretts esophagus claim, i had to make a correction on that claim, the varo had it down to Barretts esophagus secondary to my heart, i told her that was a mistake , that my claim is for Barretts esophagus secondary to my S/C Gastritis, she told me she will make a written change to this claim., she said looking at my records that i had been in the hospital many time in service with stomach problems to include ulcers, gastritis, reflux disease esophagitis grade [4] she ask me how many time i have been diagnosed with Barretts, i told her five times by my fee-base dotors, she said you have many opinion here in your record and one from the Va doctor, then she ask the service officer that was in the room form varo, was he aware of that fact, he could not answer the judge. we talk about a few other things. then she askif there was anything else to discuss. i said no. then she told me she was well pleased with the way i answer all her question and that i was well prepared. i said thank you, then i added that i beleive that all my claim had there begining in service and progressed to where i am at now. So i hope it works inn my favor. the only thing was that my DAV represenitive did not show up for the hearing, the jjudge said she would make a note of this. i show her an e-mail that i received the night before from Kevin Gregory telling me not to worry that a DAV rep would be ther for me. but the DAV WAS A NO SHOW. Patrick
  5. My Unit is on the AO list, my unit was there prior and after. 1Aug 69. we had 50 to 90 rotations to the Z. my MOS was 94B30. but on the Z your MOS did not mean a thing. most of the nightly patrols were made up of cooks , clerks, supply, most of the time we had C-Rations twice a day one hot meal. we would team up with 1st/23Inf or 2nd 17th Inf. Patrick
  6. Hi Berta the reason i sent in the Mcnab picture, was because he was in charge of the film libriary, maybe he could shed some light on some of the incidends that took place, i was asking the VA to find away to contact him to get information, it also seem that alot korean vet from the time period 1964 to 1970 are having a hard time with there stressors, i have hundreds of korean vets When i send away to CURR who were on the Z, but are having problems proving them because it seem alot of the incidents were not reported due to the fact that the Nam war was going on at the same time, and the GOv wanted to keep what was going on in Korea hush-hush. About four month's ago i received from the military Newspaper Stars&Stripes out of Japan three incidents that happened on the Z in 1969, where my unit was deverted to the Z to take over patrols along the Z. was i in a place of danger,YES, could i have been killed in the streach of the Z we had to patrol, YES. was i with the four soldiers who were killed NO. was there firefights across the Z YES. i also received the story of J. White who deserted to North Korea, for Japan S&S newpaper they even date and timed the incidents. i sent this to the VA.CURR is telling me my unit history show that we were on the Z and the secters we patrol and that my unit was rotated to the secter of the Z where AO was sprayed, my unit is on the AO unit list. i have ask for incidents reports many times, morning reports, all i get back is that these morning reports were destroyed in 1975, but they are not saying why they were destroyed. I get e-mail from Korean vets all the time asking me do i remember when one of the patrols captured a North Korean iinfiltrator in 1969 and was turned over to the MP's and then they ask how come there is no reports on this incidents anywhere, other vets are asking question just like me, but no answer. a guy from the Korean war project ask me about the roits at our camp Kaiser, yes i remember, but he can't find any reports of this at CURR. or in the unit history, WHY?. alot of Korean Vets are racking there brains over things they saw are were involved in, but no record, i have ask on the korean war project about my 1st sergent getting shot, in the orderly room of my unit, they remember the incidents, but no proff from CURR. so what are we to do. i send the e-mail on to the Va, they e-mail me back saying, these incidents may have happened but CURR has no proff of them. WHY I don't know. wheni had my hearing in 2003, the hearing officer was more interested in my childhood, that what happened on the Z,he just ask me about one incident, about the pipebomb that blew up in the movie house in ft. Ord , calif. and then toldme that my AFEM was worthless. and every letter i received after that was different reason why my PTSD was severed, one was because i din'nt have a CIB,anothe letter said because i did'nt have Purple Heart, next was because i did'nt have a silver star or a bronz star. The last letter i received was that they do believe i have PTSD, and that they have enought proff that i was on the Z in 1969-70 and 1983-86. And now they are telling me my PTSD was never servered, Talk about confusion, i am totally confused. Patrick my hearing in 2003, the hearing officer was more interested in my childhood, than what happened on the Z.
  7. Rocky If you get your claim approved, i would appreciated, if you would let me know as to how they decided to approved yours claim, on what evidence. Patrick THis is my e-mail Address: barbell102@yahoo.com
  8. Gary lets see if i can answer your questions the best i can. you were here forty-two years ago, that;s a long time ago, you would not reconize Subic Bay now, it is totally different. you would be lost if you came back. Alot of Vets here have lost contact with there families in the states or there families in the state don't want to be bother with them because ther are sick or disable. alot of Vets here can't afford to live in the states, because they can't work because of there disabilities. they would be living in porvity. on what they get from the VA. and i have read here on Hadit that alot Vets in the states are having problems getting the claims approved, so i guess it depend on what VERO you go to. It is also cheaper to live here, rent wise, food wise. We also don't have any reps here that really give a shit about the vets, that includes, DAV, VFW AL. you have to do everything on your own here. We have a few good people here that help, like Walter Gilmore, he is helpful, but he is also fight the VA, another ogood man here just passed away last week, and the one is to sick to leave his house. so alot of people stay here as isaid because it is cheap to live. but it is now getting bad here, rents are starting to go up. but it is still cheaper than living in the states. i hope i answered some of your questions Patrick
  9. Hi Berta I went to my PTSD file and my DMZ file, i look at every picture that i might have sent to you, there was three pictures, one was of a soldier sitting on a sign that marked the 38th Parallel north of camp casey, that was in my company, but i did not identify this soldier as me, you can look at the picture and tell it was not me. another picture was of a soldier by the name of Jim Macnab at the Camp Kaiser film library that i sent to the Va, to see if it was possible for them to find him with there duty to assist in getting information, his name is right under the picture, and he does not look like me, and his name is right under the picture,so why i say this is me is the picture, and one more picture of a soldier in my unit by the name of Glen Brieley who was on one of the patrols with me, i sent this picture to the Va and gave them the name of the soldier. i was finally able to get in contact with Glen Brieley. we e-mail each other every couple of months, he is having the same problem i am having. It woould not make any sence to send in a picture of someone else, saying it is me, that would be insane, IF you know this person, give me his name and if you have an e-mail address for him or since you know him give him my e-mail address, tell him to contact me. i would like to talk to him. Berta i know i have PTSD, but i am not crazy, why would i jeopardize my claim, buy giving them a picture of someone else, stating it is me. Please Berta give me a little more credit, i mean this in a nice way. Like i said if you know this person, tell them to contact me, or if you can resend the picture to me, it would give me a better idea of who we are talking about. Berta you know i have always respected your advise, you have giving me great advise over the years. as a matter of fact ,you help me get two claims increased. and i appreceiate it. but this time some thing does'nt sound right. Patrick
  10. been having trouble with my thyroid glands for about four months, i had blood test done and ultra sound,my Endocrinologist did notlike the results, so she put me on thyrax duotab, took that for two months, two week ago had another blood test and ultra sound, results worse that first test, now i have to have a nuclear medical thyroid scan, becasue the the last ultra sound showed tumors and cyst on both sides of the thyroid. i was exposed to AO on the DMZ 68-69 Korea Patrick
  11. Received call from OPC Clinic today, askinf if i ever had a C&P for my Barrett's esophagus claim which will be going before the BVA in OCT.. I told them that my claim has been in for three years, and i never had a C&P for Barrett's Esophagus. all the evidence i have on my Barrett's comes from my Fee-Base Gastro Doctors, all the endoscopies and biopcies diagnosis were by my Fee-base doctors approved by the VA. my claim is a secondary to my S/C gastritis/Gerd disease. I ask since the doctors were my fee-base doctors why would there be a need for a C&P, All my endoscopies show besides Barrett's, Gerd disease, Gastritis, Hiatal hernia, erosive esophagus. Question: since this is a claim for secondary to Gastritis/Gerd disease, should i have a C&P?
  12. Hi Berta I have been trying to figure out what picture i sent to you years ago, i just don't know remember who was in the picture or what was in the picture. i wish you had told me years ago , that the picture was going to hurt in me. because it is proble that VARO already has the picture, otherwise i would have not sent it to VA. i have sent so many picture to them, right now i just don't remember the picture you are talking about. if you can give me some idea of who was in the picture, or what was in the picture, i can go throught my files to try and find it. Patrick
  13. Hi I live in Angles City,it is about two hours from Manila, We have a VARO here, and a OPC clinic, but the veterans have a very hard time getting things done here. most of the vets hee are really in a bad way, all the adjudicators are Filipino's, young Filipino's, never served in the American or Philippine forces. they make the decision on our claims, all the doctors at OPC are filipino's, all useless. the only Americans we have are the director of the VARO and the Director of the OPC Clinic, they just rubber stamp everything. they are to busy golfing. so it is hard to get claim approved here. Patrick
