  1. Ah, I was told by someone that it would go back to the date I left the service. I've never fiiled before because I heard all the horror stories about everyone being denied.
  2. Here is my questions. Has anyone researced issues related to CARC (Chemical Anti Resistive Coating) paint? Durning Desert Shield/Storm we painted the hell out of vehicles with this stuff without any protective equipment. At the time we didn't know we needed anything. We just sprayed and prayed. Now, I hear some bad things about exposure and wonder if people have issues related to this stuff?
  3. I'm new to this area and starting to ask a few questions (hope not to many). From he moment the Texas Veterans Commission helps me start my process for VA disability, what is the typical time frame to be approved and start receving payment? And is it true that if I get awarded disabiilty that it is retrograde? I've been out for 10 years and told I should be able to get 30 to 70% for service related injuries. thanks, Tracy
  4. Thanks for the post about 10% for tinnitus. I'm making my first application for VA compensation and need to add this. As I get older, all those injuries from the military are starting to take their toll. On my discharge physicial I was marked as 20% hearing loss in my left ear. Since I left, I have had severe ringing in my left ear. I went to an ENT and also diagnosed me with Mineares disease due to the frequent vertigo. The vertigo comes and goes but this dang tinnitus is insane!!. 10% for this is not a bad deal!
  5. Thanks for the input. I now need to send off for a certified copy of my medical records. Not sure how long that will take, but at least I'm on the road to getting my claim in the system. It's almost absurb how on my discharge paperwork stated I also have asthma, HTN and PFS, but not once did they try to let me file for a medical discharge. Isn't Asthma an automatic medical discharge? I developed it around 4 years after I was in after being around a lot of smoke from explosives. Well, I'll keep everyone posted and I'm sure I'll have a lot of questions. thanks, Tracy
  6. I spent 10.5 years AD Army. During the last couple of years in service, I had excessive thirst and a two episodes where my blood sugar dropped into the 50's. Since I left the service, I continued having issues with excessive thirst. This year I really started to become worried and after a visit to my pcp, I was sent to an endocrinologist. I'm now on two types of insulin and take 4 injections a day. The doctor stated that I had all the signs of being a diabetic while in the service with the excessive thirst and the drops in blood sugar, and this is the typical outcome where years down the road, I would be on insulin. Question: is there a possibility I can make a claim for this disability? The doctor stated he would write a letter for me stating my history, with past explanation while in the military how this was a sign that I was a diabetic. I was also diagnosed with hearing loss while in the service and now have severe tinnitus and menieres syndrome. Can all of this be claimed? I've never made a claim with the VA and I'm going through the Texas Veterans Commission to help with my claim for other military related injuries.
