  1. I too filed a claim for degenerative discs and scarred lungs at the Phoenix VARO and received the same treatment. Denied and refused because there was no record in my SMR file. My SMR file was burned in ST. Louis in 1973 and they knew this up front. I spent my entire time on the front line in Combat on detached service to Infantry and I know for a absolute fact there are no x ray machines, no dentists, no doctors, no nurses up front. Only a lonely Medic who comes when called anytime you need medical attention DAY or Nite. If you have a back ache, stomach ache, head ache, cough, flue, or WANT TO GO HOME the Medic will give you APC's ( All purpose Capsule) and no record is kept but you are receiving medical treatment. Only if you have a tramatic or bleeding injury will a record be made and the big M for morphine on your forehead before transport out of the combat zone. I know this for a fact as I was that Combat Medic with the CMB and three battle stars. The Phoenix VARO denies just about everything the first time out. Do not give up. It took me almost four years for the Phoenix VARO to finally agree that I am married and finally paid retro active to my filing date. Gods Speed and Good Luck 1s1j524
  2. The VARO here in Phoenix did the identical thing to me. Refused and denied for arthritis, degenerative discs, and scarred lungs without a C&P exam. I filed a NOD and then went to the Veterans Medical Facility and had x rays taken of my back and lungs and submitted them to VARO as proof. VARO states you must be diagnosed by a doctor while in service. I spent my entire time until discharge on the front line assigned to Infantry. How many doctors, dentists, xray machines are on the front line NONE! Only Medical Service comes from the Combat Medic who comes day or nite and takes care of your medical problems. I was that Combat Medic and treated myself with the same medical care as given the Infantry or anyone else. This appears the way they are told to operate. DO NOT GIVE UP. FILE A NOD. SEE A DAV. WRITE YOUR CONGRESSMAN. I have done all three. Gods Speed. 1s1j5z4
  3. You will soon learn that the VARO's are the slowest government agency you will ever have to deal with. I filed several claims in 2006 as a married veteran and still waiting. To delay justice is to deny justice. Can you imagine a City refusing to give you water because they have a two year back up??? Nonsensical and unacceptable in this day of technology and computers. HAVE THEY HEARD OF OVERTIME OR HOW ABOUT HIRING MORE WORKERS. I THOUGHT THE IDEA IS TO STIMULATE MORE JOBS FOR THE ECONOMY. That is the procedure that most of us must do. I wish you well and never give up. I went to my congressman--------dav--------sooooooooo--STILL WAITING. GOOD LUCK!! May the lord take a liking to you. 1s1j5z4
  4. VARO also denied my claim for shotgun lungs----scarred lungs from breathing gunsmoke, dust, dirt, bacteria, mold, fungus. My records too were destroyed by fire---mine in St. Louis, MO in 1973. The rating specialist claims there is no record in my SMR showing any treatment etc. Be advised in combat infantry up front there is NO SICK CALL, no x ray machines, no dentist, no doctors, not toilets, no beds, etc. If you have a head ache, back ache, stomach ache, dizzy, cough, mental upset etc. You simply call Medic anytime day or nite and you will receive APC's, cough syrup or what ever but unless you are bleeding or have a tramatic injury you are going NO WHERE. I know this for a absolute fact as I was there practically my whole service time and I WAS THE COMBAT MEDIC. One size does not fit all. Some guys crack easily from combat whereas some take combat in stride but do not exactly enjoy it. Do not give up as some of these rating specialist need more training. 1s1j5z4
  5. I have interstitial lung scarring from gunsmoke, asbestos pipe covering, breathing dust, fungus, animal droppings etc, arthritis and degenterative disc from sleeping in mud & snow. I submitted xrays and reports from Private doctors and the U.S. Civil service medical board all have declared me totally disabled and I have not worked for many years. I am a former Combat Medic with three battle stars and filed for compensation. The Arizona Regional Office refused and denied me a medical exam and the claims were denied. I filed a complaint and the answer given from Arizona Regional Office for denying exam and compensation is there is no record in the service medical records....Wow!!! The National Records states there are NO MEDICAL RECORDS as they were destroyed by fire in St. Louis, MO in 1973. There are no xray machines at Battallion Aid Station and for back ache, head ache, stomach ache etc. APC's and get back to your fox hole is standard rule. Combat medicine and hospital medicine are ahem!!! different. I have been refused and denied-----What can I do??? Or what should I do??? Any help or input is really appreciated. Should I just give up?? Am I just wasting my time? 1s1j5z4
