  1. I asked the VA to CUE themselves on past closed issues quite a while ago. (about March 2008) THE COVA mentioned it, but said it must go back to the RO for consideration. In the meantime, my DIC case left the AMC and went to the BVA. My guts tell me that the CUE issues will not be addressed until the DIC claim is done at the BVA. Is this a correct assumption? Or can the VA do two things at once? :) Don't mean to shanghai a thread, but this question is so this issue....
  2. Sorry about your Tom. I have lost them before as well. I had a dry spell when Paul was alive - he was so allergic that it was a threat to his health to have an animal in the house. So for a long time I did not have any pets. After he died, I was given a cat, and adopted an adult male at the pound...got them both neutered and spayed, and when the third joined this family, I neutered him too, young in fact. I eventually gave the female away as she was harrassed by the males and I hated to hear her scream. My boys don't wander far, are home every day, eat, sleep and play together. They have their own door too, which negates me having to have a cat box. I am so sorry about your tom. Maybe he was not meant to be a 'living with a human' cat. Try to take solace in your kitten, but I know the loss is hard to take. akwidow
  3. hmmm. My late husband filed for asthma in 2000 and was denied. They said he didn't have enough history to make it sc. they looked at two years of THEIR treatment to him, when there was SMR's back to 1968 in their records, along wth private records that they gave me when I asked. He was hospitalized about 8 times in between heavy medication treatments.... He didn't challenge it. I found CUE in his case. You keep on them!
  4. Get that second opinion! Nerve pinches can cause permanent atrophy - it happened to me this year with ulnar nerve impingement in my right hand. Because I have no insurance, I have not sought treatment and my GP tells me the muscle loss is permanent. If he is right, I have permanent small motor skills loss in my right hand. Of course I am right handed...I sew for a living, and I have to use a pair of plyers to hold the hand sewing needle. I sure could use that DIC I have been waiting for for almost 6 years! Get that second opinion!
  5. Anchorage is my local VARO...no wonder my claim is so much trouble...

I got the virus that alters your files, makes you think your virus protection is on when it is not, and I had to finally format my hard drive. Be more careful than you think you need to be, and if at all possible, save all data, photo and etc. files on another drive. We use some pretty skookum virus proterction....Computer Associates.
  7. Edward Jones is a great place to invest some of that retro - I am so happy for you! My 'never give up' claim is still in the works. Once again - I am so happy for you. I have been following your posts since I came on board in Feb 09.
  8. Good job - gumption pays off!
  9. yes, I agree as well.... We finally got some show the last few days, but then it warmed up and turned it all into glop. I need to get out and snowshoe some of this VA gloom out of me! Try to be merry inside...
  10. Enjoy every moment - I lost my hubby on January 15 in the year of his death... the small stuff does not matter any more. I found it amazing how my attitude changed when faced with a loved one's death. hugs to you and yours...
  11. Way to go you guys - Mikee and Redexprss1 and SFCtruckdriver: I am curious - at what level of VA (RO, Board, AMC, CAVC) was your claim approved? AkWidow
  12. Don't let the Eye - "I" - Street fool you... I bypassed the AMC and asked to be sent to the BVA just last week. AMC failed to satisfy my remand. I sent my NOD paperwork to the BVA.
  13. Congratulations - wish it was that easy for all of us!
  14. 10_20_2009_SSOC_generic_no_names.pdf I decided to upload the last SSOC. I sent in info within the 30 day deadline, but am confused because the verbage in the SSOC says I can submit more data within 1 year of the SSOC... it is on page 7 of the SSOC attached. Any coments? I want to send an IMO if I can in in fact submit more data....
  15. Good job, ladies - I can see the VA being called organized "Crime"!! how about - "Modern Felons"?
  16. I wasn't bored at all - and I know what you mean. I have been helped from the grave a number of times. My parents are still here on this earth, and I am grateful to have them next door. I have been frustrated at not being able to get any response from my grandmothers though. My mother's mother was so wonderful to me. My father's mother let me know even as a child that she loved my cousins better than I, but she still instilled in me a creative urge that has led me on a path of artistic ability that I credit the beginning of to her. Yea for being able to breath - and for your being able to remember where you put things!
  17. I need a psychiatrist who can produce an IMO that creates a causal connection between PTSD and avoidance and denial pertaining to personal health care. My initial inquiries to two doctors came back as being unable to fulfill my needs. Anybody got any names with or without contact info? Thanks -
  18. Yes, Vets Lady - the same thing happened to me, and I did just what Wings said...I got my return receipt in the mail today... Good luck! We both need it to go with our brains and efforts! AkWidow
  19. Yesterday was a day 150 miles out of town filled with courtroom custody drama with me supporting my youngest against a batterer. She lost! I wrote her pleadings for the last 18 months...but what lost it for her was when she had a nervous breakdown - as they used to call them - last July - and put herself in treatment for a week. Judge did not think she was stable enough to parent so the kids went to the batterer father. B) She was on crutches because she had a slip and fall at work in September and had surgery to fix the injury in November. Lots going on, and I was exhausted when I got home. Thanks for the bump. I will read the case law - and get back to you on whether they noted this regulation in the VCAA letter Oct. 2009. I usually copy and save in a word document as well. I have phone calls on my list today for IMO inquiries, so I am on the ball!
  20. It just goes to show you that hard work pays off and miracles to occur~! Way to go with the win--- AkWidow
  21. Thank you Berta. I will call the Psych Dr. I was recommended in Anchorage.
  22. I am sorry if I came across sharply...if you only knew how I agonized over this last go around! I realize all the participation of the contributors is on a voluntary basis...and I am grateful for all the "wisdom of the ages" that has accumulated over the extensive time of fighting for a righteous outcome of these claims. I hope that your claim is successful too - I'll keep a watch - I have been here every day since the day I found Hadit! BTW, I am still a little confused about submitting further evidence. In this last submission, I met the 30 day deadline...but I remember seeing something in the VCAA letter that said I could submit additional evidence within a year - if that is the case I could buy another IMO and submit it, right? I don't expect them to get to my case for ages as it is...it has only been 5.5 years. I would reread it but I am out of town until tomorrow and on another computer. Anyway, I don't expect anybody to be a mind reader, but thought maybe there was an ironclad rule to go by. Thanks again -
