  1. Well in 1989 I had had surgery on my uterus. The doctor stated I had a septate uterus (shaped like bunny ears instead of being pear shaped) and that was the reason for my misscarriages. In 2003 I had an exam for my overactive bladder and the doctor noted a defect in my uterus, my PCM sent me to radiology and the report stated I had a cyst or phylop and a enlarged uterus. My PCM told me then that I might have to have a hysterectomy. I had a pap smear every year since then but everything was normal. I continued to have pelvic pain. Once I retired in 2008 I filed for Pelvic Pain but was denied. I just had mu annual pap smear and the dictor told me my uterus was the size of a 14 week pregnant person and I probably have fibriods (I'm scheduled for an ultrasound in a few days) but he went ahead and scheduled me for the hysterectomy because I'm having other problems aswell.
  2. Is you wife a member of Hadit? because I have a million questions. I want to know what to expect after the surgery? I have read many horror stories. I'm scheduled for the laser hysterectomy and I wnat to know what to expect and what questions should I ask my provider. I try to stay calm around my husband, kids and coworkers. I try to put on a happy face so I don't worry them but to be honest, I'm a little scared :D I'm not upset about losing a reproductive organ, I'm worried about the surgery. I had a close friend earlier this year go in for heart surgery, the surgery went fine but he died in the recovery room. I'm a praying person and I have faith in my God, but I'm human and I'm still a little scared.
  3. How long does it take for the for the Increase Compensation Base on Unemployability Form to be approved? Can I file it before the surgery? Lisa
  4. I just filed the claim for SC on 29 Aug. Yes, its serious! That is the reason I'm risking my career. I know my position here at Public Health can be refilled. I just completed the form and will fax it tomorrow once I have all the documentation I need to send with it. Lisa
  5. I was SC for Sleep Apnea 50%, Titinitis 10%, Back 10%, Rt Knee Arthritus 10%, over active bladder 10%, hiatal hernia 10% and anemia 10%
  6. Hello everyone, I was just informed by my current doctor that I need to have a hysterectomy. I'm scheduled for surgery on Oct 6. I'm a little worried becasue I just started my current job about 11 months ago and I was told I will need to be out for about 2-8 weeks for recovery. My Supervisor stated my position is secure ( I pray she's telling the truth), but I will be on leave without pay for the duration of my recovery. I don't have enough sick or annual leave to cover the time off (used most of my leave for doctors appt and VA appts). I'm currently rated at 80%. I still have a claim out for bilateral feet problems (the Rater didn't address the issue during the processing of my original claim, so the opened a new claim for my feet. I also asked for an increase on other issues, so my original claim was reopened). Is there anything I can do to help cover my lost of wages during my recovery time? Can I be service Connected for the hysterectomy? I faxed my regional office the information I had from my current provider and a radiology and doctor's report from 2003 showing I had an enlarged uterus. Your help will be greatly appreciated, Lisa
  7. Charlie, My transition appointments were not helpful. I learned more about the claims process and what questions to ask for this website, hadit. What's BBD?
  8. I called the Miami VA Center thats handling all the cross contamination calls and the refered me to the Augusta Clinc to answer all my questions. I called the Augusta Clinic and they stated because my name is not on a list, they will not provide the testing. The cross contaminated equipment was from Jan 08 - around Nov 20, 08. Because my test were performed on 4 Dec 08, they will not provide the testing. I called my personal provider and I will be tested next week.
  9. Hello Hadit friends, I just called 1800 827-1000 representatives and they gave me another number to call, 877-575-7256, they are handling all calls regarding the cross contamination reports. I sopke to a nurse, and asked if I should be tested because I had an ENT exam and pelvic exam in Dec 08. She stated they are only testing those who had colonscopies. She stated this is the only equipment in question. I ask is this because this is the only equipment they have knowelge of that was contaminated. I asked if the VA can test me because I wanted to be sure, and was informed I will have to be tested by my own private physician. Again she stated, the VA is only testing those who had colonscopies. I'm going to call my own provider and get the test done. But should VA, perform the test?
  10. The Veterans Service Rep called me in Jan needing a copy of my DD214 showing I recieved a medal for my deployment to Afghanistan. She stated that OEF /OIF veterans claims were being expedited. I wonder what is their definition of expedite? I have also recieved numerous calls from the VA, informing me of my benefits as a combat soldier and benefits for women. I told the rep I would love to take advantage of the benefits offered, but I can't until I recieve a rating. So what's the point of informing me of my benefits, if I'm not able to take advantage of them right now. And from what has been posted, I may not take advantage of them for awhile.
  11. Hello, I'm new to this process. I filed my claim in Sept 08 and completed my exams in Dec 08. My claim was sent to the rating board on 25 Feb 09 and I'm still waiting on a decision. Should I be worried or is this the normal process? Help and giudance needed!
