  1. Great idea and awesome tribute. Thanks for all you do as well. God bless. /doc
  2. Yes he was jbass, that would be a great tribute.
  3. It was posted on another site that we had in common. It said he had a heart attack October 1st.
  4. When I first discovered hadit in '07. I was at a loss as to how to proceed and honestly if I wanted to go forward with fighting the VA. It was at that moment that I read some of Testvets post. It inspired me to keep up the fight. Its with a heavy heart that I thank this tireless veteran for all that he has done. He along with a few of the elders are the reason I'm 100% service connected today. Thank you Mike my you rest in peace. My condolences go out to the family and the broad numbers of vets he's touched along the way. Thank you sir and God bless. /doc
  5. Berta is right. I have a daughter who turned 18 in the last three months of high school. She enrolled in college, that next September, by the time the VA switched her to chap 35; I got a letter saying that I was overpayed. I've been paying it back over a year now. I did apply for the waiver but was denied. I was told that you can't have both. I learned my lesson. My younger kids all turn 18 before high school is over. I will just let their benefit expire when they turn 18 to avoid owing money. /doc
  6. Thanks guys, if I can help one vet avoid what I went through then it will have been worth it. I'm here to pay it forward. /doc
  7. Congrats. HB is like icing on the cake. Good job. /doc
  8. Bonzai, I know it will happen for. The remand should be signal for them to make it right. /doc
  9. Thank you all. I've been having spontaneous smiling attacks for last few days.
  10. I wish I could line all you guys up and give you all high fives and hugs. I know I could not have done it without my hadit family. I had my ALJ hearing on the 29th of December. I have been a wreck for the last month leading up to it. I get to the hearing with my wife. My lawyer meets with me and tells me that the clerk just spoke with her and he said there was going to be a "quick" hearing. I go in with my lawyer and I'm sworn in and we go through all the blah blah blah. The judge asks one question "Have you worked since May of 2008?" Of course my answer is NO! Just like that I'm leaving with a fully favorable decision, after over 3 years of getting denied and wondering if this was going to happen. It did and I want to be the first to say you guys were a big part of helping me get here. When I found this site, I was struggling to make ends meet, working two jobs, going to school and failing to do either well. I was 30 percent S/C and felt like I should be higher but didn't know how to get there. Within three years I am now TDIU, with SSD. You can not well maybe you can understand what this means for my family. While it will never make up for my hearing loss, back and knees, depression etc. I because of God and you guys will be able to provide for my family in a way that I couldn't do while working two jobs and struggling to keep them both. So line up and accept my thanks : Carlie, John, PR, Pete and Pete, Jbasser, Wings, Berta, and even Cowgirl where ever you are. I have learned so much but most importantly I have learned that no one will be a better advocate for you than YOU. The wealth of knowlegde here is immeasurable, I hope to add to that base. I just wanted to say thanks Hadit family and thats what we are here for all you do God Bless T-Bird for having the vision. To those that are still waiting don't give up you have the evidence and the truth on your side. / doc
  11. Congrats on your long overdue win. Have you downloaded that form for TDIU yet lol. /doc
  12. Congrats, I am waiting to get mine. /doc
  13. Congrats, great news to hear especially during this upcoming season; where money can be an issue. /doc
  14. I'm not sure if your asking for your C-file or medical records from the VA medical center.
  15. You could call the 800# back and ask what your current rating is. Its worked for me once. Good luck. /doc
  16. What are you service connected for? Are you getting social security? Do you see a private doctor or just VA docs. It would be great if your primary care doc can write something saying that you can't work due to your S/C disabilities. /doc
  17. Don't mean to open a hornets nest; but does this mean VA comp goes up too? Good news either way since every little bit helps I'm sure. /doc
  18. People react different to meds, so its hard to tell if you are going to have the same side effects as someone else. That said I took celexa for almost two years, it started out on 20mg and topped out at 60 eventually they took me off of it. It did work for awhile and then not so much. I took something else for anxiety though I took clonazepam and hydroxizine. I don't take the hydroxizine anymore but I do take the clonazepam still. The only side effects I can remember having were dry mouth, and feeling sleepy. Keep in mind that you have to take most psych meds for about six weeks to feel most bennies, so its good like you said to be open minded and give it a chance. hope it works for you. /doc
  19. They do the same thing at my clinic too. It usually only takes an extra day or two to get it. My mental health clinic is not in the same building as ROI so I usually just stop by there on my way to the pharmacy and make the request for records. I go back in two or three days and its been approved. You are not alone I think its SOP for mental health. /doc
  20. Do you get copies of your progress notes after each appt? I find that helps me be able to get what they say they don't have to them. I feel your frustration. I had a cp a couple of weeks ago for sleep apnea three weeks after I received a denial for sleep apnea. Go figure, and when I get there the doc doesn't have the sleep study that they sent me to back in Nov 09. I think you have a strong case considering you have stability issues and would need help in and out of the shower, not to mention someone to help around the house to do the things you are unable to do now. Do you take pain meds too? big plus. Good luck /doc
  21. I was in VocRehab for a while and finally could not continue. My counselor wrote that I was infeasible to continue in the program. I think that played a big role in my IU decision but just as important was the supporting evidence of my chronic pain, depression, heart issues etc. My experience has been when dealing with the VA; there is no such thing as too much evidence.
  22. Guilty! :) I have to say you guys are right. I should be doing more, and will make the effort to spend a few hours a day giving back. I have been on here a little over 2 years now, and unfortunately have been a little timid about stepping out there. Like Bonzai its like compared to what alot of you guys know, I don't want to step on anyone's toes; but I can share what I've experienced and will do so. Thanks for the kick in the butt, I needed it. This is a great site and all vets need hadit. /doc
