My husband recently had a lung biopsy performed to rule out cancer (the location of the mass couldn't be reached any other way) and it turned out to be cancer that necessitated removal of a lobe of his lung. Fortunately, they found it early and no other treatment was needed. Shortly after, we found out about the link to Agent Orange and lung cancer for Vietnam Vets. He began the application process and have had the VA visits and the paperwork sent, etc.
My question is this:
Does compensation for lung cancer work the same way as for prostate cancer? In other words, since he filed after the treatment was completed (even though he was still in the early recovery stage when he filed) will he be ineligible to receive the 6 month automatic compensation because the treatment was completed when he filed?
There is no way he could have filed before treatment began, because the cancer was not diagnosed until he was in surgery, and the lobe was removed immediately following getting the results of the biopsy. The doctors did not think it was cancer, but had to perform the biopsy on the off chance that they were wrong.
Thanks in advance for your help.
