  1. Carlie you always bring great incite. I was 10 percent prior. I expect some retro in the coming days. No more co-pays, yippee.
  2. While I still have others items to be reviewed, I have been granted an increase. My rating is now 60 percent. Thanks to everyone. Your incite has been helpful, and even more helpful is your patience in dealing with me. I appreciate you all.
  3. This is why Civil Service should be treated like military workers, which means overtime or not you make the same pay. You should not be granted additional pay to correct the mistakes you've made. Hence, do it right the first time... 4. AWESOME. 8 Years, way to long. Also, welfare isn't only for low end people. Tthe sad truth is there are really wealthy industries, and individuals who are receiving welfare, and you are correct it needs to stop. Vets are the easiest target for cuts, because we don't speak loud enough, once we make our voices felt people will start to look elsewhere to make cuts...
  5. Most deserving, Congrats...
  6. I think in honor of any vet we should respect his privacy. If in the future, or should I say if someone here knows him please convince him to join the site and tell us about his experience. I am sure we are all happy for him and all vets who have achieved, but we must respect his wishes, no one needs to publish his name unless he grants permission. We don't know his circumstances, he might have greedy kids who he knows aren't deserving of earnings. But if he is convinced to come here, amongst friends and reveals himself to us, it would be great.
  7. In most cases, you first response is going to be a denial. You have to re-read your info, and submit an NOD= Notice of Disagreement. After doing that, the process could take years, to include several visits to a regional medical center, to first, make sure you have the disorder you are claiming, and secondly to determine how sever the disorder is or may be. I have been waiting for four years, five calendar years, for a resolution. My case started with two denials, and now it has progressed to "a complex case that has to be sent to DC for review". So stay the course, however congrats on being 50%. And Thanks for your service...
  8. I am happy this Vet got his due. I have been in line for 48 months. At some point the cows have to come home to roost...
  9. Congrats. We are talking 16 months, that is fast. I have been waiting since Feb. 2008, 47 months and all I get are the same old stories...
  10. Congrats. I wish my christmas gift would come soon...
  11. Congrats been waiting since '08.
  12. I know this is not the way the VA thinks. But the bonuses should be given to the agencies that exceed satisfactory performance
  13. Carlie, Berta, and anyone who might have some input. This week, I sent an inquiry to IRIS asking about my case. The response, from IRIS, was: my case had been sent to Texas Veteran Commission with all items closed. That was the reply from IRIS. My thought was; they have closed my case WITHOUT telling me what had been decided on the items left open. Now, the reply from the Waco Regional Office Manager, stated, it could take 4 to 6 months or longer, because the cases at Washington D.C. have increased. My question is taking both inputs into account: is it fair to say, the regional office has completed there assessment, now they are waiting on D.C. to take my case. If this is what it sounds like, please tell me, because I have been on IRIS this week. If I need to settle down and be patient a little longer, I will. But, if you think I am getting the run-a-round, which is what I feel, please say so. Thank you all so much. PS. In my C-File the C&P physician stated in her opinion, my pes planus which case my flat feet was more likely than not caused by my years in service= 50%...
  14. Not what you really want to hear, but, I am using the same regional office. My case was sent to them February 2008, and I am still waiting. All i can say is, USUALLY, the longer the wait, the more likely the claim will be granted...I hope that helps you a little, as for as a time deadline, they don't have one, you get it when they are ready to grant it...
  15. Guilty, of taking Berta, Carlie, Borncovet, and a few others for granted. I only check this board three times a week, but I will do my best to provide more input, and respond more...
  16. My understanding is the COLA is a computation of the rate in 08 vs what it is now in 11. To me that means -1.9 + 3.6= 5.5, but, we will have to wait and see. I do agree Something is far better than nothing.
  17. Once it is gone it is gone. All we can do is VOTE ACCORDINGLY. If it means that much to you, and it does to me, you have to VOTE ACCORDINGLY.
  18. Waco is saying that since my increase is less than my current retirement benefit my increase will continue to be drawn from my retirement check, regardless of the fact it is a special monthly compensation increase. The Regional office service center manager went on to say, instead of receiving retoractive pay back dated to April 2008, the government will withhold taxes. My assumption is they will withhold the amount owed. One problem, they have yet to tell me how much was owed in back pay. I would rather have the back pay, so I will continue to SOLDIER on. Also, I claimed pes planus, to with I had a C&P dated october 2008, they have yet to rate. Inside the C&P the physician stated it is likely than not that my flat feet is a result of my pes planus (while in service). However, they continue to not rate that because it is 50 percent right off the bat... Don't think I let them off the hook, I filled out my VA Form 9, again, and gave them quotes and dates. Also, in the reply from the Regional Office manager, she stated it would take 4-6 weeks to complete my claim. So what I expect is the claim to be completed sometime in September, and hopefully awarded the first of October...Well keep all posted...
  19. I would go right to the VA official who awarded the contract. You can bet somewhere down the line that person knows the person he awarded the contract to. Bottom line, that contract awarder should be made to answer some questions, and if he/she can satisify the questioner, then fire the person they awarded the contract to and re-bid the contract. To many snakes killing out economy, and claiming to be a patriot...
  20. I was awarded Special Monthly comp (K), as it stands right now, they are taking that money from my retirement. I will contact them and ask why is it being drawn from my retirement. Thank you very much.
  21. Is special monthly compensation taken from your retirement pay?
  22. Was awarded Special comp (K), from Waco. It has only taken them 41 months. Still have several claims outstanding. I am sure with the budget constraints on-going, its going to be like pulling teeth. That said, I have received a little joy. Thanks Hadit: Berta, Carla, broncovet, Larry and many, many more. Again, I still have work to do, because, they aren't going to do it for me, but, today is a good day.
