  1. I have written about this before but I'm not sure how I titled it. I have had a perirectal abscess since July, 2006 and have been to civilian and VA doctors about it. Both agree that I need surgery because it is still draining. Problem? The VA in Dayton, Ohio is so crowded that it took almost two months for them to schedule a pre op appointment for me. Sincer I was originally misdiagnosed at the VA I backed out and am trying to work on a home cure. I was treated by a civilian doctor who could do the procedure in a lot quicker and more professional manner. Question? Does anyone know the procedures that I need to go through to have the VA pay for for civilian care?
  2. I will be having some dealings soon with our local VA regarding a mis-diagnoses and I was told that I may be able to file a 5011. Not sure what that is. What is it for?
  3. For some time now I have had a problem with my back. As I have gained weight it has gotten worse. It finally got so bad that I can only walk about 150 feet and my lower back hurts so bad that I have to sit down. It is now, also, being followed by shortness of breath. When I sit upright my shoulders hurt from my arms hanging. I went to the local VA and after waiting 2 1/2 hours (I have a doctor but he doesn't have any available appointments) I was seen and all they gave me was a prescription for 800 mg of Motren and told me to take it three times a day. All it has done is upset my stomach. Is there anything that any of you have taken that will shut done this pain?
  4. I am looking for somebody of authority to register my concerns about the deminishing care that the Dayton Ohio VA Hospital is experiencing. As an example I went to the Urgent Care on Monday morning at 845 a.m. for a back injury. I signed in and waited until 12:30 p.m. before I finally gave up and left. I was told that it would be a couple more hours. I am diabetic and needed to eat. I returned on Wednesday this time at 7:45 a.m. and even though there was not near the crowd there was only one doctor treating patients and it took until 9:30 to get in to see a physician. In the last few months everyone is complaining. The nurses say they don't have enough help to process patients, doctors are complaining that they are often taken off duties to be assigned into other areas and patients, like me are complaining that service is getting worse and worse. I am looking for a politician to contact who can explain to me why the President keeps telling the American public how proud he is of the service people doing their duty and yet continues to cut available services.
  5. I am wondering why the coverage of Veterans Care at the Veterans Hospital stops when you turn 65 years old. I am 61 and have been going to the Dayton VA for over a year. I have been told by a brother and other vets that when you turn 65 you have to get a seperate coverage; such as Tricare. I only pay for prescriptions now but I am told that when I will need the coverage the most and can afford it the least I'll have to come up with more money. What's the reason for this?
  6. I posted a note about prescriptions I have been receiving and some dental work. That was in December. Since then here is what has happened. Fronm Dec. 04 until Aug. 05 I never received any type of bill for my medication. I even called and asked them why I hadn't received a bill and was told that I didn't owe anything. In mid August I started getting bills. Since that time, it is now Jan. 30, I have been trying to get verification what I actually owe, if anything. To top it off I wrote a detailed account of events for the Billing Supervisor that I sent on Jan. 21 and they have yet to have accept it at the VA. This is getting to be ridiculous. As for a dental problem I had, I did get free service BUT I ended up losing my tooth because they removed and replaced a filling three times. After a flawed root canal my tooth cracked and I had to have it removed on Dec. 23. Merry Christmas, huh? WEell anyone else has had financial dealings with the Dayton, Ohio VA good luck.
  7. Question! I am wondering if the VA can stop supplying you with medical help, including prescription medicine, if you file bankruptcy, which will cause the VA to have to eliminate some of the cost of prescription medicine you owe?
  8. I go to the VA and for over nine months I was not charged for my diabetes prescriptions. Then in August I got a bill of over $350. Now my problem. When I got my bill after so long a time I called and talked to the VA Patient Representative. I was told by her and the billing employee she had me contact that I owed nothing. I was told to ignore the bill and if I received another one to let them know. I didn't receive another bill for a couple months and then got a threatening letter saying that I could have any government pay or income tax refund attached for the amount I owe. However, after talking to the Patient Representative again I was told that she remembered talking to me and she would straighten it out. The problem is I continue to get more frequent threats from the billing department and now I can't get the Patient Representative to return my calls. I don't know how long I should wait but I guess the more important question might be is how much authority does the Va Patient Representative have? Has anyone else had similar dealings.
  9. I now get my prescriptions from my local VA but I also have coverage through Caremark from my civilian employer. I have been with the VA for a year and up until a couple months ago I never received a bill for my medication. I even called about six months ago and was told I didn't owe anything. A month ago I got a huge bill, for me, of $400.00 from the VA. My question? Will Caremark pick up any of this if I am required to pay this bill?
