I think it is more like what Chuck is trying to say.Some items that were added in prior years are now pretty much standard equipment. ie. power windows,automatic transmission,air conditioning. They should however should have to put these changes in writing.I was under the impression that since the VA is Federal, that they can't willy-nilly change programs without it being in writing.I thought the C.F.R's covered everything the government does.

Update. My friend talked to the head of prosthetics in Tucson(kristine) and she informed him that the VA will not cover some items like power options,automatic transmissions and a few others.(I can't remember the list of things he told me).These were all covered by the VA previously.

He deals with a rep in Tucson but I think that falls under Phoenix.It was the Tucson rep that told him that they stopped doing it.I found the link you posted before I asked the question on here.I just wanted to make sure it was still an active program.I will pass this on to him.Thanks.

Hello everyone, I have a question about the auto reimbursement program.My friend is 100% SR Vet that lost his leg in Vietnam.He has received the auto reimbursement for every car that he has bought for the last 20 years.He just bought a new car this year(the last time he used the program was over 8 years ago).He filled out the form 10-1394 in February and now the Va rep in Phoenix is telling him they no longer fund the program.Is this true? Has anyone heard they stopped the program?

My psych meds(effexor) stopped working for me about a year ago.I would go to the doctor about it and all they ended up doing was increasing the amount.It finally got to the point that they had me so doped up that I could no longer function.I was hospitalized in the psych ward three times in hampton va to get this straightened out.I finally moved down to NC to get help at a different hospital.They decided to put me in the mental ward and change my meds back to zoloft and seroquel.I was on zoloft before with good results.This time I started experiencing hallucinations and hearing voices(sounded like an alarm clock radio playing somewhere).Needless to say,I stopped the zoloft and the hallucinations and radio sounds went away.(It was kind of funny trying to find where the radio noise was coming from untill I realized it was in my head.) Yesterday I went to see my shrink and explained the hallucinations and sounds from taking zoloft.He asked me why I thought it was the zoloft.I told him that I didn't have those problems before zoloft and since I stopped the zoloft, the voices went away.He prescribed me haldol. I looked up Haldol last night and it looks like it is some pretty bad stuff.It says it is for people with hallucinations.I'm not having hallucinations anymore. Has anyone on here taken this stuff? I'm sick of feeling like a guinea pig.I have an appointment next Monday with a different shrink.Should I wait to see him?

I know everyone says you should file yesterday,but I am moving from Vegas to Norfolk within the next two months.I have spent the last year getting all my files,records,proof of stressors together and I don't want to throw a wrench into the process.Should I file now or wait untill I am situated in Norfolk? Thanks in advance for any help.

Ok, that's what I thought. I was looking to see how they are handling the new ptsd rules.Another looooong night of boredom.What does set precedent?

Thanks for the info.I used a 10 point outline I found somewhere online.I think it was a link I followed from here.It included everything from Larry's post.It takes me a little while to post on here.I usually browse with my opera browser and post with skyfire browser.Opera won't allow me to post but I can read pages faster with it.

I am submitting my claim this week for ptsd.The vso I have said I needed my stressor letter to go with it, so I am finishing that tonight.I'm not sure if it should be hand written or typed.So far everything is hand written.I was planning on typing it tonight.I have to use a friends computer.I do everything else on my phone and it takes forever.Last night,I was reading my medical records..boy does the va like to dance around issues."Are you homeless?".."yes" ....Patient states he likes camping.lol

I was diagnosed two years after I left the service by a couple VA shrinks for depression.I was recently dx by the VA for ptsd.

This is what I was talking about when I said some people on here love to pounce. So Bill,I guess someone that was repeatedly waterboarded in S.E.R.E training couldn't possibly suffered any long term effects.Only soldiers that were with YOU should apply is what you are saying?

I never filed any claim with the VA.They have been treating me for depression since 1994.I didn't feel the need to file a claim back then.They treated me pretty good.I realize now,that that was a mistake.For the past year,I have been getting all my records together,reading everything I can on filing a claim,spending hours and hours reading BVA decisions.I am going to get a VSO this week and file my claim.After reading on here that I(not the vso) should learn as much as I can because it IS my claim and not all vso's are the same.Any recommendations would be much appreciated on picking a vso.Questions I should ask them. Again thanks for all the help.

I guess I shouldn't have used the word "irrefutable" lol.The proof is newspaper articles with dates,names and what happened.I was never going to file after I got out in 1992 because the VA in Baltimore treated me pretty good the first few years.I have moved around the country quite a bit since then and have experienced care that is marginal to unacceptable.When I was homeless in Baltimore,they at least treated me with respect and dignity.In Fayetteville,Nc and here in Vegas,they treat you like crap if you are a homeless vet.The only reason for me filing a claim is because I would rather pay a private doc for care. Like I said before, I have been reading tons on this site,but am reluctant to post because too many people are ready to pounce on you when you ask a question.

First,I want to thank all the posters on this site.I have been reading as much as I can on this site for the past year and have learned so much. I was finally diagnosed with ptsd from the va.They have been treating me for depression since 1994.My question is should I file for non-combat or combat related depression/ptsd? My stressor for non-combat is easier to prove and is irrefutable.Does it make a difference in benefits which one I file for?
