Thanks everyone, I do feel better. I way that I'm relaxing is that evey half-hour I call IRIS for status, and every time I get a different response. Kinda like the excuse for the day that broncovet referred to. Well I guess it comes down to this, the people who should know, don't, the people who should not know, think they do. And the rest just don't give a rats a## at the VA. BIG O

I'm a nervous wreck as IRIS said the decision on my claim has been made and I should hear something this weekend. I'm nervous because my DAV person told me earler this week that it was being rated, yesterday I was told by a VA person that the rating was completed and it was in Post Committee (Determination) and would be completed 0-4 weeks. I called again today and was told by another VA person that the decision had been made and would or should receive the decision in the mail this weekend. What concerns me is that it takes them almost a year, and then all of a sudden in a week everyting seems to happen!! BIG O

I really don't know if this is good news or not, but whenever I can get a VA Rep on the phone without waiting till the cows come home that is good news What the lady told me was that my claim had been rated and now must go a supervisor and then to a more senior person. After all the signatures are obtained it will go to some post committee, and all this should take around 4 weeks (will not hold my breath). May be I'm getting my hopes up to much, but why would they go through all this unless they have approved my claim? BIG O

Carlie, BTW, I also use Papa when I'm at home and BIG O in my office. I just could not get Papa to work at my office. If you are familiar with Hobby's angioedema history, will I have the same thing. I'm currently researching to see if mine might be hereditary. Growing up we were too poor to seek any type of medical care, let alone being able to afford blood test. I do know that Angioedema is a cause for medical exemption from military service. My point is the induction doctors were only worried about sending young men through. One would think that if they saw on a person's induction medical history they would have at least done some type of test and/or told me to go see a doctor. But, nothing. BTW, My current and former doctors, the Texas Rehab. Comm. and the Federal Civil Service Comm. all consider me totally disabled. I see were you are coming from, but I never went to the doctor for this painful disease, we just had to suffer through it or die. I'm not being overly dramatic. BIG O or Papa

Carlie, Thanks for the response. What I was trying and not very sucessful is that 4.22 seem to state that if you have a medical issue were you are totally disabled prior to your enduction physical, the VA would rate you at 100%. My point that I was trying to make is that the doctors were told both in writing and vocally that I had a medical problem. It was a problem that would have exempted me from military service. If they accepted me they accepted all of me. I just need someone to give me clear reading of this 4.22. BIG O

I was looking through the rating section and came across 4.22. The interest that I had was that it could affect me. When I took my entrance exam probably around 1967-68 time frame, I wrote down that I had a very serious problem with burning and swelling up. I even told the doctors, but all I got was only "Queers" and "Commies" get out of serving. I had zero test done. I was never informed to get a personal doctor's statement. We did not have the money for that. I will not go into all the problems I had in the service, but once out and during a very acute attack I finally located a doctor that knew what I had Angioedema. Currently, I'm in the process of really determining if mine is hereditary or not. But, that should not matter. If I'm reading 4.22 correctly, I should be rated 100%. The only thing that gives me pause is the word "ascertain". I never had an exam (well they looked in certain places!). Am I reading this correctly? The bottom line to me is that I should have been exempt from military service for this medical condition. BTW, I appreciate all the feedback that I receive.

Is there a secondary for Hypothyroidism as it relates to PTSD? I have both leep Apnea and Hypothyroidism. I told the Doctor at the QTC exam about both, and it took note of both, and now I'm awaiting a decision. Will I need to amend my return once a decision is made, will do you think the doctor will include it in his report?
