  1. Is anyone using VLER?. What are the advantages or disadvantages to using this system?
  2. Notorious Kelly, I took your advice and emailed Secetary McDonald Sunday night. It worked, I received a call from the local VA clinic Tuesday asking to schedule me for a appointment this week. The representative apologized for the delay in scheduling my appointment and told me that the roll out of the Choice program is not going well.
  3. I moved from Illinois to Florida in Septermber 2014. On October 7, 2014 I registered with the Florida VA Clinic closest to me to establish a primary care provider. I was finally called by the clinic on Novermber 18, 2014 informing me that I have been scheduled for my initial primary care appointment on January 8, 2015. In the mean time I have had to see mulitiple doctors using my civilian medical insurance that have resulted in a lot of out of pocket fees. Yesterday I received my Choice card. I called the number on the card and was told by the Choice represetive that I qualified for reimbursement for my out of pocket fees for seeing civilian doctors since the VA could see me with in 30 day. I was told to contact my local VA clinic and to have them update my eligibility so I could initiate the reimbursement process with Choice. When I went to the clinic today I was told that they did not know anything about this. I spoke with the patient advocate and explained the situation to him. He told me that the Chioce program would not cover my out of pocket fees since I have not yet had my initial appointment with my primary care provider. I feel like a dog chasing his tail. Does anyone know if I am eligible for reimbursement for my out of pocket fees?
  4. Does receiving SSDI exclude a S/C veteran from participating in Voc. Rehab.?
  5. Contact your congressmen and provide them the details of your situation.
  6. Can a SC disabled veteran who has recently retired from the Federal Government (FERS) become approved for Voc Rehab! Or does being retired disqualify the veteran?
  7. MPsgt is correct on the compensation. JT24usn is also correct concerning the challenge obtains a C&P exam while incarcerated.
  8. meghp0405, If you can get a buddy letter stating that your buddy observed you displaying OSA symptoms while on AD that may help your claim for OSA secondary to PTSD.
  9. I was diagnosed with OSA over a year after my discharge, but was able to get OSA S/C secondary to PTSD.
  10. See if you can get a buddy letter documenting that you had OSA symptoms while on AD.
  11. Stick with it. The more you use your mask, the more comfortable it will become.
  12. I was able to receive SC for OSA secondary to PTSD with a strong buddy letter describing my OSA symptoms in service. Note that I was diagnosed with OSA 2 years post service via a sleep study, and had my doctor write a letter stating the my OSA likely started while I was onAD.
  13. I suggest that in addition to a medical opinion that you get a strong buddy letter. Your wife can also write a letter for you explaining the symptoms she observes when you are sleeping. This too should help to support your claim.
  14. I use Myhealthyvet to refill all of my prescriptions with no problems.
  15. My experience with the DAV was positive. I am a Gulf War veteran from the 1st gulf war. When I came home and applied for SC (on my own) I received a 0% rating for numerous issues in 1993. Forward 2003 after returning from a OIF reserve deployment the Pensacola DAV Service Officer filed a claim for me which resulted in an initial award of 40%, and was increased to 60% before I movred to Reno, NV. While in Reno, the DAV Service Officer I worked with and assisted me in filing new claims that resulted in me receiving 100% P&T scheduler rating. I always did my own research and provided my findings to my DAV rep. We worked together and my results were positive for me. I am now a life member with the DAV. I enjoy their magazine and believe that if I need representation from a VSO that they are there for me.
  16. That's great news. Congratulations!
  17. If you can also get a buddy letter documenting that you had sleep apnea symptoms while you we're still on active duty that should also help support your claim.
  18. See the attached link for information on programs the VA has that provide IPADs to vets and their caregivers. http://www.disabledveterans.org/?s=ipad
  19. Has anyone received a free IPad frm the VA for TBILISI or PTSD?
  20. Does anyone know where in PART 4—SCHEDULE FOR RATING DISABILITIES that restless leg syndrome is listed?
  21. Is restless leg syndrome a condition that canbe service connected?
  22. What was your BP readings the day of your C&P? I also received SC for hypertension secondary to PTSD and OSA. But I was only granted 0% because my BP readings were lower than the level required for a 10% rating. But the only reason my BP readings are to low is because the VA has been able to control my HTN with BP medication.
