  1. Not sure where this question should be posted. I am wife of Vet. My husband filed claim in Dec. 09 for C & P. Put everything asked for in nice binder, all reports from hosp., Dr.s etc. He had C & P exam in January. DAV has not asked for anything else. My husband call DAV beginning of March to ask for status of claim. He was told that DAV was waiting for information from the nat records center. He called last week and ask the status, was told that DAV had not made a decision yet. Normally what is the length of time when VA has no questions for the Vet on whether or not he would receive some type of rating if any. Should he wait 3 months or 6 months before contacting our Federal representative. Waiting and Anxious :D
  2. Thanks, I appreciate all the information you guys have given me. I will start with the formal inquiry. Will check in with the results. Thanks again!
  3. Can someone please tell me if there is anything else my husband and I can do to get his medical record from VA. On Friday 10/9/09 we spoke with the FOIA/Privacy Officer in Baltimore after getting the run-around to where his medical file might be. How in the world can a VA medical center close up and the VA file clerks claim all files from the medical center that closed in Baltimore were transferred to the Perry point, MD facility and Perry point claim they are in the new facility in Baltimore and nobody knows where the medical file is period. The FOIA/Privacy officer is saying that the file will be found because she is sending the information to the Chief of FOIA. (Freedom of Information Act officer.) I work for a Federal agency and I know the process of how records management should be handled. These are some of the dumbest folks I have ever talk to in my life. Everybody blames everybody else. If someone has any suggestions on what we can do to get his medical file, please respond. This file was located at the Veterans Hospital on Loch Raven Boulevard, Baltimore, MD from Sept., 1969 through the time they closed in the 90s. They can't find any information on the clinical patient records system, but 1 file clerk told us in looking through the logs, he found my husband's name and the file number they used to file it with. (but no medical files). They also claimed that the records have not been retired. We need this file because we know that it will help with filing his claim. HELP! HELP! HELP!
  4. PLEASE EXPLAIN TO ME HOW TO USE THE IRIS TO GET UPDATED INFORMATION IN REFERENCE TO MY CLAIM. :P
  5. I joined the american legion and there are a whole lot of discounts we get as veterans. Sears has a great discount program through the American legion. We purchased a stainless steel frig and stove (LG) from Sears. Price in store was 1400 or more for both items. You have to purchase on line from Sears and the discount was unbeliverable. Price was 1200 for each item, no problem with delivery, items are ok. Call your local american legion and inquire about joining. :P
  6. Thanks for the info. Will check with VARO again. Let you know how I make out. :P
  7. :D Aftering receiving letter from VA stating they have all information from me in reference to my claim for disabiity (Sept 1, 2009)and they will contact me if they need more information, there is no need to contact them. Will I have to have a exam from VA and how long does it take for them to contact you for this exam. (Gave them copies of all medical records (VA claims they can not find my medical record from the VA hospital I attended after leaving the service in 1969) This record has lots of my medical information in it and it will be very helpful to use in my filing. Hospital closed in early 90's.(VA medical center in Baltmore, MD--33rd street) If anyone knows how to go about retreiving this medical record, please let me know. I have tried the Perry point location in Perry point, maryland and the Greene Street location in Baltimore, Maryland and those lazy folks can not give me an answer.
