  1. Let's hope this former director stays out of the VA or any other system
  2. I searched here and found a few articles about nerve release surgery, but I want to ask if anyone here has had it and did it offer relief? The proposed procedures will be for cubit and tarsal tunnel syndromes.
  3. Carefully check the rest of the C&P exam report to make sure the doc did not diagnose you with that. Look for objective evidence, or lack of, to prove them wrong.
  4. I was able to obtain a letter that is not available on eBenefits. I went to renew my license plate and the agent said they needed proof I had a VA disability percentage in order to renew my disabled veteran license plate. Well, I gave that to them a few years ago, bu they said I needed to provide them with a current letter. I called the 1-800 number and requested the letter, containing only the combined percentage - no payment info or anything else, and It arrived a few days later.
  5. If you do not wish to use your real phone number, you could always provide the number to the nearest pay phone. After all the letters I sent to my Congressman, they always have contacted me by letter - never by phone. Well, so far...
  6. Not me, but I am adding a link to the NIH web site for those who wish to learn more about it. http://www.ninds.nih.gov/disorders/arachnoiditis/arachnoiditis.htm
  7. Excellent!! Mega congratulations! I am so happy for you!
  8. "Bringing troops out of Iraq" reminds me of an old episode of Gilligan's Island. A genie lamp washed ashore. After everyone was granted their wish, Gilligan rubbed the lamp and said he wished they were off the island. They were standing on a small section of beach which conveniently separated from the island only to stop a few feet away from shore. I doubt our troops in Iraq will be coming home, but instead will beef up our force in neighboring areas.
  9. Nice to see this moving in the right direction, but will not get my hopes up until it is approved
  10. When I was in during the 90's, it seemed that White House would get the military involved in another overseas operation every fall, but then scale back during an election year. I have an odd feeling that if all troops are brought back by then, a week or two later the White House will have a reason to send them back out or to another theater of operation.
  11. My Ebenefits' Open Claims section has shown the following message for quite a while, but worked earlier in the year:
  12. Hello everyone, A friend asked me a question regarding his father and medical treatment he might be able to get from the VA. His father served in the early 1980's as a motor pool mechanic for about three or four years in various places, including Puerto Rico. His father refuses to tell us the kind of discharge he received. His father lived a rowdy life back then, including alcohol and drug problems, so my friend has a feeling it could be a dishonorable discharge. Aside from being overweight, his father has been having some serious abdominal pain with blood in his urine and stool. His father did mention being diagnosed with Chron's a few years ago. Would he be able to receive any type of care at the VAMC or VAMC emergency department with that kind of discharge? Thanks
  13. You definitely need to report this. There is support phone number for the site. Also, they may have an office at the VAMC which is setup to support the web site.
  14. I think they went easy on the sentencing...
  15. There are cases where the C-file is not necessarily required. If someone is SC already, the VA may request a later C&P exam to determine the current status of a disability. This may be in cases where an increase was requested or in situations where a person's disability rating is temporary or expected to improve. There may be no need for the examiner to go back and review old records. However, I had an exam for an increase where the C-File was irrelevant but it was sent anyway.
  16. I'm good, but was offering a tip to help Getting Old be able to view the PDF document.
  17. Try right-clicking on the link and saving it to your computer
  18. Last week: "You may experience longer than normal hold times due to a large number of callers signing up for e-benefits" All my questions were answered by canned responses. Sent an IRIS request last Monday and still have not had a response...
