  1. No, I am leaving due to the health decline that I have taken. My job has resulted in my health problems becoming problematic both physically and mentally. In addition to the recommendation that my Doctors from the VA and the Vets Center.I work in an enviroment where we assist and prepare the troops for deployment to the war, and have mixed emotions with regards to this. But I still performed my job in a very professional manner not exhibiting my feelings and emotions until I am home. I keep my emotions "in check" but it really hurts inside to see these "kids" go time after time. I feel for them quite sincerely and it's obvious in some of their faces as they prepare to leave their home. This hurt also takes a toll on me. I need to get away from this enviroment, that's all there is to it. Thanks for listening.
  2. Everybody, Thanks four information, help and encouragement. Sounds like I have a lot of work and headaches ahead of me. Nothing I'm not accustomed to though. I already feel the emptiness inside of me now that I am "leaving the workforce". Working here on the Army post has been a security blanket to me in a lot of ways, but it had it's downside as well with all the deployments going on and the bewildered look on the soldiers that passed me by as I assisted in their preperation for going to war. Thanks again and I will keep all advised as to status of my ongoing venture into the "paper nightmare" once again. Gunner
  3. I have been 90% Service connected for quite a while for numerous injuries and also have a 70% rating for PTSD.My Doctors at the VA told me I need to leave work and request 100% as it is affecting my health both physically and mentally. They're (VA) giving me a letter to take in to my work place tomorrow and turn in to Occupational Health to place me on extended Medical Leave until I have been processed out of service.I work for the US Government,Dept of the Army.My question is am I doing this right as per their directions, or should I be doing this differently?I just don't have a warm fuzzy about this whole thing.I have applied for my 100% with my VSO about a month ago.Somebody please give me some advice. After tomorrow I will start using my sick leave, annual leeave and compensation time till it's burn up and then wait for the outcome. Please give me some info on this. Thanks in advance.I'm really worried about this.
  4. I have had a 90% SC disability claim to include a 70% for PTSD and numerous other medical conditions. My original claim in 1990 was for 60% and I was called in for a re-evaluation a few years back and I was increased to my current 90%. My question is that my MH Doctors(Physcologist/physchiatrist)both are pushing me to request a 100% evaluation as they have documented that my work is causing my mental/physical conditions to deteriorate. Now, here is where I am confused. What if anything must I do, or do they (my Dr's) submit recommendations for my re-evaluation to 100% IU? Please help me as I am totally lost on whats going on right now? Thanks.
  5. I am a Vietnam Vet and am rated at a total of 90%.I was rated at 50% for PTSD until recently when I was sent in for a review by a QTC examination and was increased to 70% for PTSD.My Doctors at the VA keep telling me that I should request 100% unemployable and they would back me up 100%.My concern is that I work for the Army as a civilian worker and have for the last 12 years. What will happen to me with regards to my retirement with the federal service? What happens to my status etc.I am concerned about my retirment. If you have any info or help please address this subject.I'm really worried about this situation. Thanks.
  6. Well I got home today and went to get my mail and lo and behold there was the "BROWN ENVELOPE". I grabbed it and started for the house and then my anticipation couldn't wait anymore. I stopped and opened the envelope and couldn't believe my eyes. My rating for PTSD had changed from 50% to 70%. My total evaluation is still 90% total like it was before my review C&P but I am over elated. The main thing that was in my review was that "no future examination will be scheduled to evaluate this condition". I was shocked and couldn't believe the results. I went into the house and told my wife and she was overwhelmed as well. Thanks for everybody's support. I guess the most important thing that I can say is "NEVER GIVE UP". Keep on striving for what you have coming to you and for what you have been through. Later my Brothers.
  7. I had the day off from work yesterday and had to go to Seattle for some errands with my wife. While I was there I did stop at the Federal Building and tried to get my exam that way but was told the same thing as the letter I received, "don't submit your request until 60 days have passed". What a crock, since the examination results are there within their system. Just more of the VA putting us off and failing to release information to us.
  8. Well, I spoke with the Seattle VARO two days ago and they told me that my QTC report was entered into their system and that they mailed my requested copy out that same day as well. Well, lo and behold when I got home yesterday I went to the mailbox to get my mail and there was a letter from the Seattle VARO that stated "It takes a minimum of 60 days to get the QTC C&P exams into their system, and to please send another letter for request of information on that exam after 60 days have expired from time of the exam." What a bunch of crap. Somebody in this chain is lying their butts off, as I called the Doctors office as well to see if they have submitted their paperwork and was told yes, and it was sent in a couple of weeks ago. Any help from the "Peanut Gallery" on how I can get this paperwork without having to wait another 2 months as per the VARO.(1 more month time for the 60 days lapse and 1 month to process a letter request) Thanks in advance.
  9. Sent my letter off yesterday to the FOI folks at the regional office for a copy of my re-examination by the QTC Doctor. Hope I don't have to wait too long as I'm already hyper without this going on...........
  10. So, Pete53, what you are telling me if I am interpreting correctly is that "I must go to the Regional Office and request my QTC exam from the RO". Is that correct? Is there any other way to do it as I would have to go to Seattle to do it that way. Is there a way of doing it from you own local VA Regional Medical Center? Help................ Thanks for any input. Gunner
  11. Went to the Records Release of Information and was told that they cannot release my info from the QTC C&P re-examination. They told me that I will have to go to the Regional Office and request from there. Does this sound legit or what? Something smells "fishy" here. Any help or ideas on this? Thanks. Gunner
  12. Me too. I have been to numerous C&P exams (this was a re-exam) and I have never been drilled over the coals like this one. I hope that you're right and the results are on my side. I just hate to have this negative attitude but you can't help it when dealing with the VA. I'm wondering if this is common with the QTC exams on taking that long to do the exam. Gunner
  13. ALL, Well yesterday the C&P exam was "BRUTAL". It was a 3 hour ordeal of emotional ups & downs. When it was finished I felt as if I had just did manual labor for an 8 hour shift and I was totally exhausted. I'm sure tht it didn't help with my lack of sleep the night before as I didn't get much through all my stress and worry I had inside of me. Well, the good part is that it is done and now I have to be on "pins & needles" awaiting the results of the exam. I can't say how I feel about how my examination process went as I don't even remember all of the questions and what I answered them with. I'll post the results when I get them. I have an appointment this week so I will go to the Release of Information and request a copy upon completion. Everybody thanks for your support.
  14. Once again thanks for your inputs. I will give you an update after tomorrows meeting with the QTC doc. Also does anybody know how long it takes for the results to come out on the street for these re-examinations? Also can you get a copy of these visits like you can for your regular doctors visits to ensure that only true information has been entered within your record and how can you retrieve this info. Any info on that would be great. Thanks again.
  15. Everybody, thanks for your info and help as what I should expect and what I should do. As for taking someone, do you think it would be wise to take a friend with me from my Vets Center group or not? My wife is Oriental and she gets nervous sometimes when people ask her questions and says the wrong thing. Thanks again.
