  1. Thanks everyone... and sorry for the typo on the SS stuff.... I have it right, just not hip on the lingo all the way yet ;) As for my approval level, I believe it was approved by my RO. I am very thankful for my VSO she helped me so much it was amazing. When I started my appeal 2 years ago we waited 18 months before I got a meeting with my VSO and RO. After that it was 2 C&P exams, 4 phone calls from random VA people and I went from combined ratings of 20% to 50% then to 80% then 100%TDIU.... all within 6 months. I feel very lucky for getting the people I had helping me.
  2. Well, from being rated at 10% less than 3 years ago to being 100%TDIU now... I am very excited. I was awarded 70% for my PTSD and 20% for right shoulder on November 4th (Dated to May 2007). I submitted my TDIU paperwork the same day. I received a call from my VSO yesterday stating that I was already approved for TDIU (In 20 DAYS!). Now all I am waiting for is my paperwork and notification of start date for payment of TDIU. I got my SSI paperwork in a couple weeks ago, but I expect that to drag on for a while. Is there anything I need to do at this point? I want to thank everyone here again for providing so much information!
  3. You must understand that just because a doctor prescribes you a drug doesn't mean you MUST take it. If you don't agree with his/her tactics then tell them. I have been on anti-depresents to Benzo's; when I thought they either weren't working or they made it worse, I told them and they were able to try out a few things. Just understand your patient rights and you will be fine. Also, you can request a different doctor if the one you were assigned does not work out for you. I also see that you don't have a service connected disability, have you filed for this?
  4. Thanks Larry, also everyone else.... I am in route for SS and my TDIU, I will let you know of any additional info. Hope for a speedy return on the TDIU. Thanks Again!
  5. one more thing sorry, so when you say "ELIGIBLE" does that basically mean when I last worked or from the date my claim was initiated in 2007? Thanks
  6. OK, great. Thanks again for the info. I will be asking for the phone interview for sure. Thanks!
  7. ok, good enough for me. Thanks for your help.... also just the info from browsing the forums.
  8. sorry, My basic question is, do you think that I qualify for 100% for my PTSD as described by my diagnosis? The difference in retro pay would be substantially different if I were to be awarded 100%. Correct? Thanks
  9. Yea, I started that... that's a tough one for me. I have a hard enough time leaving my house. What should I expect with that? Interviews? I am freaked out.
  10. My concern is the back pay situation, my claim has been open since May 2007. I received a payment today with the difference from 30% to 70%. Would it be worth the frustration, if any?
  11. I received my award letter today for 70% PTSD. At the time of my C&P exam I was employed by my father-in-law part time. Since then I have lost my job due to my condition. I applied for TDIU already (yesterday). I read over my evaluation and it seems to me that I would now qualify for 100%, I am searching for opinions on what to do, or if it's even worth going through? "An evaluation of 70% is assigned for occupational and social impairment, with deficiencies in most areas, such as work, school, family relations, judgment, thinking, mood, due to such symptoms as: suicidal ideation, obsessional rituals which interfere with routine activities; speech intermittently illogical, obscure, or irrelevant; near-continuous panic or depression affecting the ability to function independently, appropriately and effectively; impaired impulse control (such as unprovoked irritability with periods of violence); spatial disorientation; neglect of personal appearance and hygiene; difficulty in adapting to stressful circumstances (including work or worklike setting);inability to establish and maintain effective relationships." Thanks, Mike
  12. Agreed, just be TOTALLY honest. I recently went through your exact scenario, I do not drink anymore and do not use street drugs... so I get it. It may seem that because of this you have "lessened" your symptoms of PTSD, this is no the case. The first exam is crap, you will most likely be lowballed, don't let this get to you. I was awarded 10% and now after my 3rd try I am looking at 70-100% when I was awarded 10% to start. This stuff sucks and it will be for a while, as for stressor letters. What was your MOS? Any combat awards (CIB, CMB, Bronze Star, Purple Heart)? I was an 11B with a CIB and other awards so they did not require q written stressor letter. They did go through some detailed questioning about events though, so be prepared for that. Good luck, Mike US Army 3rd ID
  13. you are not alone, feel good about where you are now. C&Ps are the worse. I have had 3 in the past 2 years for my PTSD, those were the worse days. It will take a bit but you will recover, like always. You are strong, and that is why you are still here. Good luck.
