  1. Congratulations! If you are not able to work, then you caserviceile for SSDI. When I retired from the government, after 32 years I was already at 90%. I put in a claim and 6 months later got 100% . I then filed for SSDI and went to see one of their Doctors. He told me at the end of the exam, that I will not have a problem getting approved. Well I did and now I am living the dream. I do not care to work, and enjoy my time. I retired Dec 31 2011. Good luck and congratulations again. Thank you for your service...
  2. Rover, get on E Benefits and check in the letter section and see if your payment has changed!! This is how I was able to find out before getting the award letter. If you are getting a compensation check and you see a higher amount then just look at the rate table and see what you got as percentage. Good luck! Thank you for your service!!
  3. You can look at the AB@ letters and it will show you the new monthly amount. This is how I found out that I had gotten 100% SC P. Also the letter for your ID card is there also. All of this is on E Benefits Congratulations and good luck, Thank you for your service. Enjoy a strees free life.
  4. As I had stated the decission to stop recoupment was in the award letter I got from VA. As I still had a large amount to pay back. When I got out the severance pay was for one condition . So they were taking out a percentage from my check. . On the award letter it states! Recoupment of Disability Severance Pay is Suspended.. I also found further in the letter! Please note that the withholding for your Disability Severance pay has been suspended at this time. The withholding may resume in the future if your evaluations change.
  5. I was already SC, and after I retired due to my problems I requested IU and they sent me for a complete eval of all my SC conditions.!!!
  6. Thank you all for the comments!! I am still like this is to good to be true. But all is well and enjoying life the best I can. I want to say a big thank you to all who have shared on this web site. Take care and thank you all for your service!!!
  7. Thank you for the nice comments!!!! Well I had a good friend that has done alot of research and help me to write it up correctly. He is also 100% p&t. I am also getting SSDI since July, and I did not have to use the SSDI award letter for my case!!!! I also had to retire this past Dec and I am living the dream and now I can relax and take care of myself and keep going to the Doctors.
  8. I found out yesterday by looking thru EBenefits. I was able tp see the new letter as for what my payments will be and as of when. This morning I looked again and saw the letter to get my ID card. I just got home from getting the ID and I got the notification from VA. 100% SC T&P I started the claim in Dec 2011. I am so happy I got this and now I can rest easy and not have to worry!!! They also stopped the Recoupment of the Disability Severance Pay I got when I got out of the Army back in 1989. I want to thank all who have shared great suggestions...
  9. Back in Dec 2011 I retired from my job! I could just not handle the pain anymore and problems with my other service conection problems. I am at 90% and put in a claim for an increase for 100%. I also asked for Unemployability. I was called a few days ago that my previous employer had to fill out VA Form 21-4192. Wainting on that to be done to see what VARO decides. I also submmited a claim thru SSA, for SSD and they sent me to a Doctor and he was very positive. Well I got the Doctors report and he stated I would not be able to work. Well today I called the SSA Rep and he informed me I was approved, and should be getting the notification in the mail. Now I have a question? Will me getting SSD cause any problems with my VA compensation? Do I have to inform VA that I am getting SSD payments.? If you have any other information that may be useful please share with me. Thank you Tom
  10. I just got a 50% rating for Depression due to chronic pain!! I also just put in a claim for PTSD, because of the Fact Sheet put out from VA dated July 12, 2010 about New Regulations on PTSD claims. I served in Korea in 1974 and lived in the DMZ the whole tour. I experienced some nasty traumatic situations and have for many years just denied I have problems. But my question is since I was awarded the 50% already will they take that into consideration or is PTSD a seperate issue..??? Thank you Tom
  11. I just got a letter from the DAV, and it's not official but they are just letting me know in advance. The question I have is the following. This is right from the letter. 1. A decision on entitlement to compensation for erectile dysfunction due to depression medication is deferred. 2. A decision on entitlement to compensation for depression claimed with Chronic pain is deferred. 3. A decision on entitlement to compensation for right knee condition claimed due to left knee is deferred. I just don't understand this. Also I will be retiring in 6 months can I ask for Individual unemployability now or do I have to wait till I retire?? I am according to the DVA letter I will have a combined rating of 80%, I am currently 70%. Thanks in advance Tom
  12. I requested a copy of my records from the VA for a specific date range. I came across the C & P notes and they say that the C file was not made available!!! I thought I read somewhere that they have to be made available by law????? Also back in 1988 or so on active duty I was hospitalized thinking I had bleeding ulcers, but after the test were done it was internal hemmoroids. Thru the years I still was having bleeding but did not seek medical attention because it was sporadic bleeding. Well for quite some time I have been bleeding quite reguarly. Had several Colonscopy, and it has been verified, aslo blood in the stool test. I completely forgot about this condition. If I do a claim will it go back to when it started or to when I file the claim???? I am having so much pain with my other SC conditions that I am seeing mental health and have been prescribed meds for deppresion. What do i have to do with putting in a claim due to Chronic Pain Syndrome???? After reading thru all my medical records I feel that I am entitled to increase in some of my ratings. I did a claim back in 2007 and was denied for several conditions due to it being secondary to the primary. I plan on filing again and if denied doing and appeal. So should I wait on the Internal roids claims and due it with all the others??? Sorry for such a long post and thank you in advance. Tom
  13. I am looking for information on doing a claim based on chronic pain. What I am now 60% Back 10% Duodenal Ulcers 10% Left Knee joint Disease meniscus tear Have had 2 surgeries already 10% Tinnitus 0% Bilateral Hearing Loss Getting paid for 70% I have an appointment with the shrink to work on establishing the chronic pain. I am tired of taking so much pain meds, I am depressed, have ED and don't feel like dealing with it anymore. After doing research of my medical record, found a problem I still have today and wanted to hear from other about it. I was hospitalized while on active duty for internal bleeding. The doctor thought it was due to my Ulcers, but they found internal hemorroids. That was back in 1986 and I am still having problems with them. I have been thru 3 Colonoscopy and has been verified that I still have them. I also did a claim for my right Knee since I am having the same problem as the left, I did it as a secondary problem and also for Cervical Strain and Restless Legs. I was denied all off them "Not Service Connected" But I know they are due to my main problems. So any information here will be gladly appreciated. On the Ulcers problem!! I have to take meds everyday for it or I am in pain. Can I request an increase for this situation?? On the Hearing loss I heard that if you do not understand any of the words during the Speech Discrimination test not to guess at them? I have always guessed to what I thought I heard. Any input to this?? Sorry for such a long post. Thanks Tom
